Novak got the easy draw (again). If he could choose who to meet in QF and SF he would probably like what he has now, possible Tsitsipas and then Sinner.

Yeah, the bottom part seems loaded compared to top part.

If there's a match that will trip up Djokovic, it will be the one against Shelton in the 4th round. Remember, Shelton played Djokovic tough in that US Open semifinal. With that experience under his belt, maybe Shelton pulls off the upset this time around.

Besides, a Shelton-Sinner semifinal would be a lot of fun.

when Ben gets a proper return game and stops making high risk shots in his game he might improved his overall game, that was so evident in his games at Brisbane International last week, he might get away with it in lower rank players, not the best returner in the world, Novak.

Going on 37, it's hard to say how things will fall out! I don't think we can really be sure! Novak still has to perform w/ the new speed of the game! :-)2

Well I dont have high hopes for Tsitsipas, he had to take a MTO last night in the Charity match at the AO
His back still hasnt 100% recovered from the ATP finals in 2023, he should have withdrawn, also he didnt play much for Greece at the United Cup recently.

I don't think anyone's had "high hopes" for Tsitsipas for a couple years now.

Fun fact about Tsipsipas - record in tournament finals, by level:

Slams: 0-2
TF: 1-0
Masters: 2-4
ATP 500: 0-10
ATP 250: 7-1

So he dominates at ATP 250s, but awful at ATP 500s for some reason, and not good above. Or to cut it more starkly:

ATP 500 or above: 3-16
ATP 250: 7-1
Overall: 10-17

That veers into Gasquet/Monfils territory.

I am talking about what is going on with Stef since the ATP finals, in 2023, he should not have played, lower back again, that was evident at the United Cup , he hardly played, and in a charity match last night at the AO, where he was in visible pain and could hardly sit down and needed a MTO, there is no way he can defend his finalists points from the AO 2023., I am not a fan just pointing out the current facts before the AO starts.
Which makes Novaks draw easier than it already is ( yes it is on paper)
As Don Fabio, a measured Novak fan pointed out in his post, Novak again got a easy draw..

Not good news for Matteo Berrettini he was due to have played in the Kooyong Classic today in Melbourne, his first match play this year he has withdrawn, he will be replaced by Cerundolo who is to play Thiem. I am still trying to find out why? dosent bode well for his first round match

Holger Rune got by far the worst path from the Top 8 seeds ( yes I also realize it is a paper draw)
R1 Nishioka
R2 Djere/Cazaux
R3 Fils/Griekspoor/Safiullin
R16 Hurkacz
QF Medvedev/Dimitrov
SF Alcaraz/Zverev
F Djokovic/Sinner/

Seeing Jannik didnt play any warm up tournaments, he did win 2 matches at the Kooyong Classic, I am hoping he can show his good form from the later part of 2023 into the AO. Botic will be a good first round match for Sinner

The No 1 seed Novak Djokovic who will have his hands full :) with a 18 year old qualifer ranked No 155 from Croatia in Dino Prizmic, who won the junior boys singles at Roland Garos in 2023.
I wonder if Don Fabio knows about him at all?
