Serena making a few errors now. Vika will break and miraculously serve out the 2nd set when she couldn't buy a serve before. It will go to a 3rd set where the momentum will shift several times. It's the way of their matches

Serena gets her ankle re-taped even heavier than normal and has to come back out at deuce to hold serve. She is broken and Vika has all the momentum 2-0

I think Naomi is winning this regardless of whether it is Serena or Vika in the final.
Not necessarily. Vika is great at neutralizing big serves. From the ground they will be equal. It will depend on who plays the big points better.

5-2. Vika one game from sending Serena home in a slam for the first time.

Azarenka has won 11 matches at Flushing Meadows and Osaka has won 10. Whoever gets the record, it should be unbeatable.

Ugh ... gutted for Serena, but congrats to Vika.
We all knew this could happen with the draw from hell and the level she was displaying all tournament. She needed to put Vika away in 2 sets, but apparently she can't maintain that level for 2 sets against the very best

Yep. It needed to be straight sets. Even then, I’m not sure she could have beaten Osaka in the final. I’m becoming increasingly afraid no. 24 is never going to happen.
