2019 Men's US Open Semifinals: Grigor Dimitrov vs. Daniil Medvedev

First, I want to congratulate Medvedev for reaching his first career Slam semifinal and reaching a career high number 4 ranking this upcoming Monday.

As for Dimitrov, it's good to see that he is fighting and playing hard again. By reaching the semifinals, he is now ranked 25 in the world in the live rankings. If reaches the finals, he will be in Top 16 this upcoming Monday!

As for the matchup itself, the H2H record is 1-1; both of their matches occurred in 2017. Dimitrov won their first encounter at London Queen's club (grass). Medvedev will later avenge that loss at Washington tournament (hard) a couple of weeks later.

This will be a tough one to call because both players have adrenaline and both of them are probably mentally spent from their quarterfinals matches. It will really be a toss up match.

Medvedev has played more matches than any of the top players this year. It has been an impressive run, but at some point he's going to hit a wall. BUT, not yet. Plus, how many times have we seen a player take out one of the Big Three, only to lose in the next round? I'm going with Medvedev in 4.

Bold prediction. I think this one is hard to call. I'd pick Medvedev, if he hadn't played so much tennis of late/all season, and if he weren't all taped up. But even young, I think he's got a better head than Dimitrov. I'm still thinking about it.

Agree, hope always remains until it isnt over .

I am a numbers guy, so it is not impossible, but damn near.
Even when Nadal plays what we call bad, it is enough for most of them.
