You play the opponent you have. Nobody brings in their A game for all Tom, Dick and Harry and it is not desirable either.
But, I know the motivation behind your wishful thinking though.

Well, we need some marquee matches. I think I've preferred the matches on the women's side this year.

Tsitsipas/Nadal and winner v Novak is pretty much what we have to look forward to in that respect.
