We don't seem to have one for General Football news, so I'll start this one.

Spain won the UEFA Finals today, defeating England 2-1. Excellent 2nd half, particularly.

This on the same day that Carlos Alcaraz won Wimbledon. Just want to point out that Spain won the World Cup in 2010, one week after Rafael Nadal won Wimbledon. Nice symmetry.

Argentina v. Colombia tonight in the final of the Copa América. Shakira to perform. (She's Colombian.) Final in Miami, where it is 94 degrees.

Get in there you Spurs!!!! What a night! 17 years of pain is over!

@britbox I guess they must be talking up Ange over there? Should probably still be sacked after 21 losses in the league, but Levy will probably be scared of doing that now

He's not being talked up too heavily, but good to see Spurs get some Silverware and I'd like to see Ange get some leeway - IMO Daniel Levy has been part of the problem with Spurs. A bit of continuity would be nice.

I even had the pleasure of watching Spurs recently - managed to get tickets to see the Liverpool match, flew back to watch us to win the Premier League. Crazy day, incredible atmosphere.

Always had a bit of soft spot for Spurs - mainly due to Glenn Hoddle back in the day - so hope you enjoy your own success! and the fact you beat the Mancs make it even sweeter.

apparently that's the first time since the mid 80s that United have been beaten 4 times in season by one team. I think Everton did it then.

I'm torn with Ange. 21 losses is too much for me. I'm not sure I want to give him the benefit of the doubt, even though there were a ton of injuries. But at the same time I can appreciate the difficulty Levy could have getting rid of him. It actually affirms his sacking of Jose before a cup final. That's the risk you run

Well, Ange has gone. Spurs never fail to amaze me with their stupidity. Poch had them regularly doing well in the league and making a Champions league final. Fired. Mourinho fired before a cup final and Ange fired after winning a trophy and qualifying for the Champions League.
Daniel Levy is a Grade A moron - sorry. What manager of any calibre would look at that basket case club as an attractive proposition?

I don't regret his going 22 losses? No that's too much. I watched those games mate. The same errors over and over again. Poch is far more complex. Levy destroyed a good manager, but by the time he sacked him he had to go. At the peak of Poch football we had the chance to take the leap, add to the squad, replace the weaker players. What did Levy do? Close us from the transfer window for 3 (?) windows. Our run to CL final was a miracle. Us Spurs fans were the only ones who knew that while we were going on phenomenal run in the CL, we had entered relegation form in February. Our league form never recovered, and early the next season Poch was gone. I both sympathise with Mourinho, Conte and Espírito Santo because the squad had aged (that's what happens when you do a transfer embargo!) and they had to both re-build and sustain a league position worthy of the new stadium.

But now is different. We've actually been acquiring talented young players. We still need a few more, probably more experienced players to make this a genuine top 4 squad. But Ange has not shown the adaptability necessary to survive Premier League football. That team was killing our spirit. Great offensive football, but absolutely no understanding of how teams would try to hurt us. And it was the same thing.... EVERY week! No... he had to go. But.. it pisses me off there wasn't an immediate announcement of a replacement. The silver lining we're all hoping for, is that to appease the fans who are fuming about this, Levy opens up the cheque book, and of course gets a competent replacement.

The last thing I would say.. and this is where I empathise with Levy.. imagine if by October next season Spurs are near the bottom and Ange is inevitably sacked. Imagine what everyone will say. This guy lost 22 times last year, what wasn't blindingly obvious about getting rid of him before the start of the season?? Ange had to go mate, the risk/reward for the board was utterly stacked one way
