In reality though just another Russian like Rybakina who changed nationality for sponsorship deals. Was quite hilarious with the no flag nonsense at Wimbledon for players from Russia and Belarus and then Rybakina won and they're all about the Kazakhstan narrative saying she's the first player from Kazakhstan to win it. More like just another Russian to add to the list but they can't help their constant lies. She was born in Moscow. They may manage to fool those born yesterday I guess. Dopey media muppets.

Well Sinner has gotten closer to Novak in the rankings! It may all come down to what happens in Monte Carlo! I think Djokovic needs to win at least 1 or 2 matches to avoid dropping #1 ranking to Jannik if he goes on to win it! I doubt it really! More than likely Sinner w/b upset or even skip the event after winning Miami Masters today! Novak doesn't need to hold onto the top rank anymore! He's gotten 2 or 3 seasons worth of #1's over & above other greats like Fedal & Sampras!

As the resident historian, why do you keep testing or disputing my posts? Why should we believe Sinner can go from HC to clay w/ all that good competition out there to win Monte Carlo? Did your forget Djokovic dropped his 2nd match to Musetti last season, but went on to take Paris for a 3rd time? Someone like Sinner is brittle or has been so far! He needs to take off sometimes after making finals! He can also be upset by a clay specialist! It can happen and the odds say Novak will continue to be the only person to go from Miami to MC and win! That was Djokovic's magical season of 2015, making every final, winning everything in sight, & acquiring record points, etc., etc., etc.!

Sinner by the way has just 585 points to defend in the up coming clay season to defend
Novak has 2315 points to defend
Alcaraz has 2265 points to defend
So Sinner is not all that brittle at present is he? yes clay may not be his better surface to date, the way he has improved in the last 9 months, I am certain he can do well on the up coming clay season,. To me Novak is more brittle at present, loses to a LL in the first round at IW, then withdraws from Miami, citing he wants more friend/family time, and the break up with his coach Goran, also still hasnt won a tournament in 2024, even Charly has turned his form around winning IW.

I think there were valid concerns about Sinner's "brittleness" a year or two ago, but he's been fine for awhile now. We'll see how he does for the rest of the year, though. And of course transitioning to clay and maintaining this sort of dominance isn't something everyone can do, but he's really locked in now. 22-1 to start the year.

He's got a nice lead (+1350) in the race rankings:

Grigors highest ranking was No 3 in November 2017, he won his first Masters 1000 in Cincy also he won his biggest title to date the ATP finals in London, that victory took him to No 3 in the world

Remember wondering who the next guy would be, way back 10-12 years ago? Hoping Grigor or Milos or Kei would step it up? If Delpo could comeback? Next Gen has some really good players, especially Medvedev, but with Sinner and Alcaraz, we have two potential ATGs in the making. Even if one or both fall short of inner circle greatness, both seem to have a really good chance of at least joining the "lesser greats" like Edberg and Becker, and maybe even more.

Or to put it another way, after the two-decade reign of the Big Four, it just feels good to be in the new era. And it seems like the table is set: You've got Carlos and Jannik as the Big Two, then a nice host of a dozen or so contenders, a wildcard in Rune, and several even younger guys starting to show up on the radar. I like the composition!

However they fall in "greatness," Alcaraz and Sinner are shaping up a good rivalry. That alone is good for tennis. And I do keep hoping Rune will be in the mix.
