Continuing this topic from Tennis Digital, this thread will follow the young women on tour (21 and under). Here are a few names of players I've added to this list: Madison Keys, Sloane Stephens, Laura Robson, Christina McHale, Monica Puig, Jamie Hampton, Eugenie "Genie" Bouchard, Ashleigh Barty, Garbine Muguruza, Pliskova twins and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.

We'll track all their accomplishments for the year in this thread and in December we can see who made the most noise. Please add any player to the list you deem necessary.

Hi Kskate2 Will enjoy following this young babe watch! I hopefully will be chatting with two of them this year, Eugenie Bouchard and Laura Robson, as they are very close friends. If they are both at Eastbourne, that is the plan. Also, saw Anatasia play last year and she maybe on my list too at one of the 3 possible tournaments I will try and get accreditation for this year. Seen Christina Mchale as well.
Look forward to spending time on this sharp looking website!;)

Interested to hear your hook-up from the inside, Rubydo! Sloane Stephens, Laura Robson and Christina McHale are on the top of my radar, personally.

Thanks for starting this thread, KSkate.

Laura would be up there on my radar list Moxie! She has a very keen sense of humor:D. Being from England originally(many moons ago), I would enjoy chatting with her if it all comes together. Certainly, will try and be in a presser(press conference) with other reporters if not on a one on one with Eugenie. Here is a pic I took of Christina at Eastbourne last year. I will share this one with you guys, but it is my copyrighted version, but happy to do this for you. Will occasionally add some of my other pics down the road. I have some that have gone worldwide. This one is okay, a touch out of focus, but still passable!

Interesting... as it seems to follow the ATP pattern in that young players are taking a lot longer to develop. Maybe the days of the teenage sensation have gone.

At least for now, it's been more than a decade since any teenager put a big dent on the tour.
Other than Maria Sharapova who did it in this century when she was 17, there hasn't been any more teenage wonders, before that...it was last century, Serena when she was 18 and Martina Hingis when she was 16

Days of having teenage wonders like Chrissie,Tracy, Monica and Steffi pop-up every other year is long gone.

That was so...uh, last century!

I follow Katerina Siniakova. She is still no 421, so she will not compete with the names above, but I believe she is the name to follow in the long run. She just begun to play adults and already won an ITF tournamet.

Laura keeps taking down big names, this time it was Venus Williams in the first round of Rome.

She entered the conversation when she beat Kim at the USO. Dismissing Venus in the 1st round of a clay court event is not as signifigant as some of her other wins.

Truthfully, I was kind of expecting her to do better after the USO, but she's been relatively unproductive until now.

She has been unproductive period. When she starts reaching the later stages of events, then I will notice her.

beating an ailingVenus is nothing...plus Venus is not the same player that she was..she has chronic back pain and if it will make Robson feel good to beat a Sjogren Venus....just a meaningless win.

Agreed. Beating Venus Williams at the current level she's exhibiting is to be expected really and not by any means an amazing achievement. Also, sorry but I think calling some of these young players "babes" is a bit subjective. Young yes, babes, mostly no.

I guess beauty is in the eye of the beerholder.

Muguruza has the most promise for me,especially on fast surfaces...Putintseva is also another feisty exciting player,Madison needs to up her fitness.at the moment Robson is just hit and miss...Sloane is now the Queen of first rounds plus she is not an exciting player at all...

Wanted to update this thread with a poll and the results from the young babes at RG. Jamie Hampton and Sloane went the furthest, into the R16.

:laydownlaughing Did you make that up? Hilarious. (And I mean this in terms of the expression itself; it is not a comment on the women listed in the thread.)
