This is the time of the year where they're all breaking down! The season really is too long, but the pros can't give up the money and points! Djokovic is one of the rare players that somehow keeps it together during this Asian swing before the YEC! :dodgy: :popcorn

That loss by Caro is unthinkable. I watched the first set and she was in control.

I think it's definitely too long but I'd also argue the real problem is scheduling. There's 1 week between the US Open and the Asian swing beginning. Not to mention that the summer is JAM PACKED. I feel like there's so much incentive to pack in more tournaments throughout the year. This means shorter times at home for the player to train and recharge.

Well we know Vika isn't making the YEC. She really should take those two month to hire a new training team to get her more fit. There's no reason for this many little injury retirements.

She might need a whole new team period. I'm not so sure this marriage w/ Wim and Sascha is working out. It's been a whole season and she hasn't won a title. Only getting to one final so far and be shown the door in straights by Lucie.

I think there is a power struggle in Vika s camp....Sascha is so desperate to be the main coach and is probably undermining Wim.
I think for her sake she has to fire Sascha and Wim....get an older coach who will be like a father figure and not a buddy.
Sascha is the problem not the solution....

I think there's a mental aspect that another kind of coach needs to help her get back. There's no reason she should have lost to Lucie in straights or be retiring this much. I do commend her for giving her team time. Still it's clear she doesn't need a change to her game exactly, just someone to help that mental factor click again.

Simona is reverting back to her old ways. Losing control of matches against a lower ranked player. Right now, she's serving to stay in the match at 5-6 in the decider against Konta.

And she's gone. Konta capitalizes on MP by being aggressive and forcing the error. She'll face Venus tomorrow in the QF.
