I live in Ireland. There are countries in the west that are unbelievably wrong minded and stupid about Islamist groups who tell us clearly of their intentions.

I just arrived in London, I’m looking forward to seeing if there’s much different since I was last here, pre-covid. I probably wouldn’t be able to tell, but I believe the mayor has similarly dangerous views to Mamdani..

I don't understand how this isn't an even bigger scandal...

It is and it has been adressed many times in Europe. It's no news to us. Unfortunately.
no not really. It's been addressed in the context political corruption, but not so much in terms of a broader look at how German energy policy was co-opted by Russian Intelligence. The fact that people like Schroder aren't being looked at like traitors.... and don't get me started about the German Greens.

It has in danish newspapers. And several danish politicians in the EU has commented on it.. And he should have been to a hearing about Russias influence in Germany..

I think you're missing my point. This is bigger than Schroder. I would argue the Green Party's advocacy for the nuclear power shutdown (preferring the use of coal of all things), and damaging Germany's energy and industrial policy is absolutely massive. And it blows my mind that it's not really the biggest thing in Germany right now

This is the essence of why the EU has a fundamental problem. It's why when we were all arguing about Brexit I said I had a lot of sympathy for the debate, but... I felt that the UK would be a big loser if Brexit actually happened. And surprise surprise I was right. But... still the EU needs to fix this. I believe this guy has accurately diagnosed the problem. Personally I think the solution is obvious.

1/ The parliament should be the body to propose laws (sort of like a House of Representatives)
2/ The Commission should be the civil service, that executes the directives from the two other bodies
3/ Council should ratify laws (sort of like a Senate)

Obviously there's an Executive that's missing. But the EU has a rotating Presidency which can perform that function. The only difference is that the EU isn't a Federation and it shouldn't be, it's more like a Confederation, so I think the concept of a rotating Presidency actually fits.

Is this pretty much it? I think so. If it is, then the question is , who is right? The people that are not happy with this direction or people who sees this as total progress. Or is there a middle? I mean, I KNOW there is a middle but middle has no chance today in either side.

^ I think it's way too simplistic mate and too much generalisation. We seem to be in a canter to pigeon hole people in compartments... "Everyone on the left thinks this", "Everyone on the right thinks that" - when in reality every individual is a blend of many... In fact many people will like or dislike all of the above in the right context. You could play on a sport, watch a sport and gamble on a sport... It doesn't have be an OR.

Some more craziness in the Middle East. I will be selfish and hope that Iran does not include Incirlik Airbase in its retaliations because I have too many family members living there. What a gong show.

^If Trump had done something like this when Iran was going crazy killing protesters I might have seen it as well meaning but probably stupid, but this now? Does anyone really believe this has anything to do with what they say? Or is it because of the Epstein thing and the 13 year old girl?

Supreme Leader of Iran found dead in the rubble. I've posted it here, as I sure as fuck won't put it in the RIP thread. May the virgins be 72 wild pigs
