I wholeheartedly agree. I would go a bit further in expanding the problem. On the right they tend to focus on platforming the conspiracy theorists because they have an anti-establishment bias. The tendency is to believe the Establishment is the "Deep State" and thus anything coming from it is fruit of the poisoned tree. It's dangerous and irresponsible for people like Joe to participate without trying to achieve an apolitical balance.

That’s it! We see this in all the covid conspiracies, there had to be some vast underground network of super villains prospering and steering the game to their benefit. A friend of the missus insisted without nary an ounce of shame or wit that Jewish banks were controlling everything, including every other bank in the world, since according to her, the Jews owned all banks.

Incoherent bigoted hack work - because the truth surely couldn’t be more simple than that.

Or, more simplistic.
BUT... in my view what's going on, largely on the left, but even on the centre right is actually more dangerous. There is an orthodoxy that is largely unquestioned that is doing tremendous societal harm. It's the phenomenon where so called marginalised groups can be openly biased or hateful to majority groups with no consequence. We see this in so many ways now. Here are a few examples...

  • there are multiple cases of immigrants committing heinous crimes like violent rape in the UK and the courts have felt it unnecessary to punish them with custodial sentences. Yet on the other hand citizens who voice dissatisfaction with what immigrants have actually done have been jailed. Make that make sense

  • Or I can bring up TikTok, where women are allowed to say horrific things about men, like wishing they didn't exist, or they're evil or stupid, with no consequence. But yet if a man even suggests that a woman is overweight or ugly on the same platform they can get demonitised. Again.. make it make sense

I could go on. But you get the point. I hate to be that guy, but there are problems on both sides. I bring this up, not as a defence for the conspiracy theorists, I find them frustrating to be honest. But we can't take our eyes off the ball. While I see harm from the conspiracy theorist, probably most seriously when it comes to the real world implications of refusals to vaccinate. There are profound implications to the cancel culture and social destruction we see on the other side. It's actively harming the productivity of companies now, where workplaces more concerned about protecting feelings than ensuring productivity its maintained. Where universities no longer have the courage to foster innovation, rather to focus on protecting feelings and stifling real debate. Thankfully I think that the virus is probably playing itself out in Hollywood now. Money talks. Snow White is the perfect example of how badly out of sync these folks are!
This is sickening. And so much of it went mainstream. It’s why the left are unelectable, in my opinion. They invent things, the sole aim of which appears to be to destroy.

As for Joe Rogan and his guests, after an initially favourable reaction to his Murray episode, more time is being spent wondering if Douglas Murray wasn’t actually onto something, with his “intervention”, and that comedians and historians-without-proper-footnotes actually need to apply more rigour and soundness to their arguments - and so do we when we hear them..

I was thinking further on this, especially the child abuse cover up which is happening basically because people in positions of power don’t want to say that the abusers are from certain Muslim communities because they feel that this would demonise those communities, but also the TikTok situation you describe - aren’t the people covering up the child abuse being racist themselves by not holding the abusers to account? Aren’t they somehow saying they’re incapable being judged for doing wrong because they ought not to be treated as normal responsible adults?

Isn’t there a form of racism in the west against some Muslims, that we expect less from them? We see it in reports on what’s happening all over the ME, it’s like, “well what can you expect from these people? Come on!”

Likewise the TikTok thing, they don’t hold women to account because they don’t feel they can treat them like responsible adults?

I’ve often felt this with the left, that they infantilise and patronise minorities so much that it seems they think they’re inferior?

First Putin, then Netanyahu have completely ignored Trump's wishes. Trump wanted America First, he wanted to stop the US from being the global policeman. He got his wish. He shouldn't be surprised at this. I think that two things can be true (1) Israel was perfectly justified to attempt to eliminate the Iranian nuclear threat. When a country repeatedly says it wants the total destruction of another country, then that country would be foolish to wait around for that to happen. (2) Not only was Trump a complete moron to pull out of the JCPOA, but he has now absolutely guaranteed that Iran will get nuclear weapons. What choice do they have? Gadaffi dropped his nuclear ambitions and was killed in a ditch. Kim Jong Un ignored America and China and got weapons. Which template does anyone believe Iran will think works. Kim Jong Un is still walking around in those funky trousers of his. Gaddafi is dust, and his country is now a failed state.

Greatest deal maker my a$$...

This sums up the decay, institutional hypocrisy and frightening downfall of the west perfectly:

Moment officer tells Christian street preacher ‘it’s all wrong’ outside station

The group had been on the concourse between Kings Cross Station and St Pancras International when the officer told the religious group, ‘It’s so loud’.

‘These people just want to do their journey, they’re not coming here to listen to you,’ the officer said.

Now, if they’d been chanting for the annihilation of Jews everywhere, the cops would be standing proudly by, protecting free speech and diversity of expression…

there's a clip somewhere of Muslims, in London, interfering with a Christian preacher. Telling him no one wants to hear it. In London! Imagine that happening in Jeddah..

But Federberg, isn’t that one of the strengths of our western society, that we tolerate differences of opinion?

You can’t proselytize other beliefs to people openly in some middle eastern countries but I certainly don’t want to imitate that..

Now if in that clip those Muslims were being aggressive & rude and infringing on the preacher’s free speech it would certainly piss me off. I can only imagine what I might say….

oh I'm sorry if I wasn't clear. Yes they were being aggressive and rude and trying to get in his space to stop him preaching.

Federberg, went a few months ago to one of the Panetta Institute Series lectures moderated by ex CIA Director/Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta. He always has great panels/speakers as he knows practically everyone from the last 35 years in the Beltway from all political stripes.

This discussion was on American foreign policy.
Among the panel were Nicholas Burns, former ambassador to China, Former Secretary of State/Senator John Kerry, Rear Admiral John Kirby & Hoover Institute & prior US National Security Advisor HR McMaster.

IIRC At one point Leon Panetta posed the question: “which foreign power is the greatest threat to the United States? “. Might have been Burns who emphatically said “China” and everyone else in the panel quickly nodded in agreement.

oh there's absolutely no question it's China. Fully agree! Well... if we're excluding the fact that America is probably it's own greatest threat of course :)

Do folks understand how truly terrifying this war in Ukraine is? I get the impression that for most people the worst thing that can happen is Putin using a tactical nuclear weapon. I think this is a serious mistake. It's MUCH worse than that. We are seeing an exponential evolution in drone warfare. I submit to you this is worse. When the war started there was sporadic use of drones. Initially primarily for reconnaissance, but also deploying missiles in a conventional way, much like America has used for the last decade or so. But this isn't Afghanistan. These are two first world powers with countermeasures. Signal blocking, spoofing etc made a lot of the drone attacks ineffective. So over time the Russians were the first to deploy fibre-optic drones which meant that signal blocking was impossible albeit the drones could only operate from relatively short distances, maximum 10 - 12km. But now Ukraine is deploying AI controlled drones. Lord knows they have enough data now for AI to be able to attain full decision making capability. That's why Trump has been forced to slowly shift back towards providing Ukraine with assistance. Otherwise the US will be left behind as Ukraine and its European allies collect vast amounts of data to make AI enabled drones. This is what's so terrifying. Remember the tentacled robots in Matrix Revolutions? Fully autonomous killers? I'm not saying that's what they're going to develop, but science fiction is a reality now. There will be hunter-killer drones developed FOR this war, to hunt down human soldiers, mark my words. The winner of this war is unclear now. It's no longer about Russia having a vastly greater number of soldiers. This is a war being waged and will be won by who is the most effective at mass drone manufacture. And whoever develops the most lethal technology. The world will never be the same again, and it's not clear to me that many people understand the implications yet. It's worse than you think, ANYONE can build this stuff, and there are no restrictions on how selective these drones will end up being.

I think the Pentagon has only just made Trump realise that their weaponry they've spent billions developing might already be obsolete

When I first read that Ukrainian drones early in the conflict had sunk that huge Russian battleship, I thought "that is very interesting."

I don't mean to be flippant but damn, this is "video wars" if those drones are AI operated.

It's getting really really scary. This war is providing the data rich real life situations that are evolving war based AI rapidly. No one is talking about it

Even this seemingly advanced technology which everyone thinks is "new" is light years behind reality.

The public domain gets drip-fed old technology. A few men running around fields with guns don't win wars.

China have launched artificial suns using fusion... there were foo fighter orbs racing around during WW2.

Trump might be a little more "in the know" than you think - it was his Uncle John after all, who took all Tesla's stuff.

Check this out:

it's seriously weird mate. The one thing I thought was an absolute red line, the rape of young white girls, is being actively covered up by the the political class. That's when you know that something is seriously wrong
Absolutely. And they're covering it up by applying that peculiarly modern left-wing racism which says that "oppressed" minorities have no agency cos Whitey. They ought not to be corrected or arrested when they rape children because who are we to judge their exotic cultures? But also, they're victims themselves and it's hard enough to encourage them to feel welcome in a systemically racist fascist Hitler state without persecuting them for this. It's only white girls, FFS, they're oppressors, they deserve it.

It's sickening that this enabler got an MBE.
