I said this before about FAA, but I think his problem is that he's too nice. When I binged on stupid ATP player quizzes on Youtube a few months back, he stood out as being both really nice and very cultured. He knows about art and music and films beyond the MCU. He's a smart kid, and I don't know if he has the obsession with winning that greats all have. In other words, he'd be a better player if he was a lesser person.
My Candian tennis buddy Shirley has always said to me he is too nice and he as to get a 'killer instinct' she has repeated that many times to me, even after his win today against Alex

I don't care about the Swifties, but leave Karen Carpenter out of this. She was a talented angel w/ a terrible eating disorder.

I used to do quite a bit of Kareoke years ago; several times a week actually! If someone did "Close To You," "I felt compelled to do my version like Diana Ross performed it over 50 yrs. ago on a TV Special w/ "The Jackson 5!" Being a "counter-tenor," my range is rather HIGH! I specialize in imitating some of the great DIVAS of my era in their &KEY&; Aretha Franklin, Barbra Streisand, Anita Baker, Tina Turner, & the one I sound like the most, Sylvester doing "(Make Me Feel) Mighty Real!" :astonished-face::face-with-hand-over-mouth::yawningface::face-with-tears-of-joy:

Back to the topic...

Congrats Felix !

Welldone Alex - a shame there had to be a loser on a match like this.

4 hours to play four sets of tennis on hardcourt !

I been looking at the flashscore match-stats and an interestingly stat is that Djokovic won 130/256 (total points) to Fritz's 126/256.

Match couldn't have been any closer.

Ben Fatto Jannik! I will watch the match replay later when me mouth recovers! Sinner 61 64 62
Proud of my other Italian Lorenzo whose results on hard courts have not been good, take the positives by reaching the QF at the USO and build on it Lorenzo!

I was reading that JCF, Alcaraz coach, said he felt that Alcaraz would do better against Novak in the day, instead of the night time conditions at the USO, well he got his wish, Alcaraz vs Djokovic SF will be not before 3pm Friday 5th September, and Sinner v FAA got the night match on Ashe at 7pm

He’s French Canadian? It’s like, his DNA sequence is a succession of white flags. He thinks lemonade is alcohol. In case he leaves anyone out, he says fruitcase is also a gender. During covid, masks wore him. His first girlfriend called him Shirley, until he corrected her and said it’s Shirley-not-until-your-mama-says-so.

And so on. Yes, he’s too nice, too French, too Canadian. I like his style of play but I’ll be very interested to see if he can channel some of that African Blood on his dads side and win a set in the semi..

Someone really needs to challenge and hopefully beat Sinner this weekend. I don't really care if it's FAA, Alcaraz, or even Djokovic. The ATP Tour can't be this bad that the only player to really challenge Sinner at the slams this year is a 34-year-old Grigor Dmitrov, who got injured up 2 sets. Even when we had the Big 3 at their peak, you had players like Andy Murray, Juan Martin del Potro, and Stan Wawrinka challenging.

Well don’t forget Carlos in Paris, but yeah, Sinner is having a banner year, kind of like Roger at the same age. Looking at the semis, Novak will be dangerous for Carlos if Carlos doesn’t open up and play his usual game. Trying to play on Novaks terms didn’t work in Oz and won’t in New York. But if Carlos wins the semi, I fancy him in the final. Conversely if Novak beats Carlos, the Business As Usual between Novak and Sinner lately is a straight sets victory for the Italian…

It's not that hot or humid today, compared to what it can be this time of year, (83-84 F/28-29 C) and the temperature at 7pm is rather the same as 3 pm, though it will b a bit cooler by 10-11pm. IMO, it's hot in Ashe, though, especially since they added the roof. It cuts the breeze considerably.

Funny that most think Novak will have more trouble w/ the heat & humidity! I didn't think Carlos was immune until of late! :face-with-tears-of-joy: Hmmm, I seem to recall Alcaraz actually retiring to Novak at the FO a couple yrs. ago w/ cramps! Novak also outlasted him in Paris at the Olympics winning his Gold Medal! Their Cincy Masters final is legendary! And again, the GOAT prevailed earlier this yr. "down under!" We'll see today how it goes! :astonished-face::face-with-hand-over-mouth:

This is true, and the Cincinnati match was a definitely a moment that has affected their rivalry since. I remember before his USO semi with Medvedev Carlos was ruminating publicly about renewing his rivalry with Novak in the final. We all know now that he didn’t make it there.

Becoming pals with Novak like that is a great strategic mind trick that Novak works against his opponents, if they let him. We all remember Nick before the Wimbledon final suddenly went belly up and flirted with Novak on X. Something about going for dinner together somehow becoming more important to Nick than prepping for the match. After that final Novak immediately decamped to America and when Nick got wind of this he asked him on X about this fabled date. Next time, said Novak, shutting the door behind him to do more important things, like organise his slippers collection.

But eventually even a perennially injured dodgy bottle goat like Djoker has to feel the effects. We’d be suspicious otherwise, wouldn’t we?

I remember when Rafa was competing at the USO, even at night he used to sweat buckets with the humidity, I dont think it has been that hot/humid in NYC this year
.
The Novak fans wanted the night match they think it gives Novak a better chance
