I think Taylor Swift was busy thinking about his marriage to whoever. I can’t stand when players are 2 sets down and suddenly decide to fight in the third. Why not start like that?

There’s still a Big 3 in tennis, and Novak is still among them, albeit as a third wheel, but still the only viable substitute if Carlos and Sinner don’t play so well. Carlos is in a slight pickle here, he’s lost his last two big matches to Novak, and he’s more likely than Sinner to fall for the old rope-a-dope, as he did in Australia.

I hope he makes a strong statement in that match, and isn’t there also “to entertain”. We have our phones for that, Chaz..
Grigor Dmitrov, when healthy, has a case. He's the only player to really challenge Sinner in the slams this year.

Ben Shelton is ready to step in when Novak inevitably falls off (yes, even that will come at some point), like Federer did in his last year.

Ben is young and we’ll see but Grigor isn't a champ. I don’t know what level of tournaments he’s ever won but he’s not a guy for the biggest stage, imo.

IMO that's what Novak needs to beat Alcaraz, Spaniard not at his best like in AO this year.

I think situation is different this time and Carlos showed a lot of maturity and patience in his previous matches here in USO. Compared to Novak's level against Fritz, Carlos is a completely better player right now. He just needs to stay focused and he got this and can beat Sinner in the final too. He looks determined..

This. Because Chuck faltered at the Olympics and Oz, I think he's prime to turn the tables on Djoke this time.

He has to really, doesn’t he? The Olympics final was probably the greatest I ever saw from Novak, in the sense of how he realised his limitations were too great at his age, and so he took tremendously daring risks and they paid off. It was an old bull at its most impressive, kind of like Rafa v Medvedev in Australia, and Roger v Rafa in the fifth in Australia too.

But the defeat in 4 after winning the first in Melbourne was a bad, unnecessary loss. He needs not to go down so weakly this time. I think he’ll win but I hope his mind is 1000% on winning, and not at all on impressing, too..

As much as I wish you could, I just don't think you can bury this gene.

Poor FAA! He just can't control what talent he has! He doesn't take advantage of opportunities like other players when the aggressive side of his game is there! The execution can stink at the worst of times giving away pts. w/ horrendous UFE's! De Minaur's serving % was underwater, but was never broken in the 1st set! Alex reminds of a Junior player; kinda scrawny w/ spindley legs, wearing those baggie shorts!:fearful-face::face-with-hand-over-mouth::anxious-face-with-sweat:

Well she did rub off. Memba that blonde hair spell he was under for 2 weeks?
Ugh I forget when he decided to go blonde
BTW Fritz is getting ripped on social media from wearing his Boss Head Band upside down lol! maybe there wasnt anyone in the locker room to tell him it was upside down before he came onto the court.

Yeah I think you’re right. In fairness, it’s a great trait and he’s got ridiculous amounts of ability, so he’s bound to use and enjoy it..

Good to see FAA put up a good run here. He might make the semis where anything is possible. Up till now in his career he’s been about as tough as his namesake in The Sound of Music - “FAA, a long, long way to run”.

It’s insane how we take Carlos for granted; think about it, Hardcourts are ostensibly his “weakest” surface and yet at the ripe old age of 22 he has 1 slam, and 4 Masters wins on it already.

FAA almost choked away that 3rd set! Served for it twice; finally eeking it out 7-5! Now De Minaur's making wild UFE's! When he misses, he misses!

I still don't think about the surface when it comes to Carlos playing against anybody! He's proved it doesn't matter; even more so than Fedalovic at the height of their powers! His only problem is the one I keep bringing up; being a hotdog needing to make the hightlite reel on Sportcenter! It'll take yrs. off him IMO if he doesn't pull back & just say, "nice shot!" :fearful-face::face-with-hand-over-mouth::face-with-tears-of-joy::astonished-face:

I just learned here that Karen Carpenter and Taylor Swift are tennis player nicknames :popcorn

Alex de Minaur has had his chances to take another set off Felix especially in the 3rd set when Felix was serving for it, Alex broke and then could not hold his serve
Alex has a break in the 4th set, lets see if he can go on with it and push this match to 5 sets, already gone over 3 hours long, a lot of UFE from both players tough Felix serve has been 'on' 17 aces and counting, the DFs in his game also has come at the wrong time, handing Alex a break
Also hurry guys I have been waiting since 3am my time (it is now 5.30am here ) for the womens QFs match Grazie!
Oh well Alex could not serve out the 4th set back on serve 4-5, Felix to serve
6 games all
TB for the 4th set

In a match that went for just over 4 hours Felix 46 76(7) 75 76(4) is into the SFs
Bad luck Alex you did have your chances!
BTW whoever brought a ticket for the day session has got their moneys worth with a ladies QF match to follow!
Felix is back into the SFs since 2021
Defeated Zverev (3) Rublev (15) and de Minaur (8)
Up to No 13 in the live rankings!
Felix is up to #10 in the ATP Race, given his good indoor record on hard, he has a good shot to make Turin
Felix will play Sinner or Musetti in the SF, for a place in the final

I said this before about FAA, but I think his problem is that he's too nice. When I binged on stupid ATP player quizzes on Youtube a few months back, he stood out as being both really nice and very cultured. He knows about art and music and films beyond the MCU. He's a smart kid, and I don't know if he has the obsession with winning that greats all have. In other words, he'd be a better player if he was a lesser person.
