Bublik probably shouldn't have trolled Sinner by calling him an AI bot. Don't poke the bear. He's won 2 games in 2 sets.

Late to the party as I had a medical appointment but kept up to date with the scores on my phone
Well done Jannik I will watch the replay later, I knew he would step up going into the QFs
Just reading some comments looks like Bublik self destructed, lots of DFs, this was the first match where is serve was broken
Bublik is such a 'streaky player' this result to me isnt such a surprise
Bublik said before the match "Jannik is like an Al Generated player I guess".

Also I would like to congratulate Felix in his 3 sets win over Rublev earlier I watched some of his match while I was watching a womens match, good to see Felix back up his win against Zverev, my Canadian tennis friend is delighted, Shirley had almost given up on Felix, and usually dosent watch his matches, because it gives her too much grief :)

Sinner improved a lot over his lackluster performance v Shapo last round.

Bublik had to be spent w/ his last 2 matches going 5 sets! Sinner had it easy! He probably needed the rest! Gilbert's giving Fritz a serious chance over Novak tomorrow! Anything's possible, but unlikely IMO! Taylor got to #4 in the world thru weak draws, other players breaking down or suspended, & a lot of luck! Fritz's best chance is Djokovic having an injury he can't deal w/ during a regular MTO & changeover! :face-with-hand-over-mouth::yawningface::fearful-face::astonished-face:

Just finished watching Sinner v Bublik

Sinner was 'on' from the start to the finish of this match' he didnt let Bublik in, not much Bublik could do when Sinner is playing this kind of tennis as Robbie Koening one of my commentators said in this match. A Statement Performance from the defending champion, Koening added.
I knew Sinner would 'step up' before the QFs all the components in his game especially his serve were 'on'.
Well done Jannik !

Please nobody ever mention Bublik again. We’ve seen his type before. He’s not a serious player…
I have said that many times regarding Bublik he is a streaky player at best, he was given a serious tennis lesson by Jannik tonight

Bublik has won more titles this year than Sinner's quarterfinal opponent in his entire career. The fact that Musetti still has a chance to make the ATP Finals, despite not winning a tournament in nearly 3 years, shows the sad state of the ATP Tour right now. Back in peak Djokovic days, you needed 50 wins (or at least close to it) to make the Top 10 and/or qualify for the ATP Finals. Right now, only Carlos has hit the 50-win mark, with Zverev the only other player on pace to reach it.

Fun Fact,
Jannik Sinner defeated Alexander Bublik in 81 minutes, the quickest completed second week's match at the US Open since Roger Federer defeating David Goffin in 79 minutes in 2019 ( R16)

Note the absence of technology on the net. Owing to a patent dispute, the chair umpire is calling lets. The Majors are discussing using this as an opportunity to do away with lets entirely. Play it out - as we do in rallies ( and juniors and college players do now) # US Open 2025.

I had to have a 'nanna nap' I am a walking zombie with these insane time zones:)
I have to disagree, abolishing lets could speed up play, remove the element of luck from these calls, and simplify the game by making it more continuous, just my thoughts

Actually if you win a point on serve from a let then you’ve been lucky. A let call removes the element of luck. In the first game today Lehecki was down 15-30 and he hit two lets on second serve. It’s nerve wracking, but he did well on that point in that early test, by bringing it to 30-all. Lost the game though.

Speeding up the match isn’t an issue. I doubt there are so many lets on serve to delay a match too much…

A let on a serve almost always favors the returner
College tennis World Team tennis and some ITF junior events have eliminated lets
The ATP has previously conducted trials of a no let rule at the Challenger Tour level to get feed back from players and the public
It is still a decision for the entire sport to consider
Our dear friend Craig Tiley has been a strong advocate to abolish lets at Grand Slam level
