The draw should be out soon, and I am traveling on the 1st, so I thought I would get this out there. I am pretty sure these are the finalized rules. I would also add (if people don't like this, then we don't have to follow it), picks must be made by the end of the first round. It really devalues wild card and dark horse picks if you can make them once you know who makes the round of 16.

Here are the rules, get ready everyone! Thanks GSM (who I pretty much copied and pasted this from). Have fun!

Regular Picks:

Pick 8 quarterfinalists (5 points each)
Pick 4 semifinalists from your 8 quarterfinalist picks (10 points each)
Pick 2 finalists from your 4 semifinalist picks (20 points each)
Pick 1 winner from your 2 finalist picks (40 points).

Your picks above should be COMPLETELY consistent. Also, you get points for each
correct pick (and not the maximum a player reaches). So, if you pick Nadal as
winner in MC and he wins Nadal alone will fetch you 5+10+20+40 = 75 points.

Dark Horse: You cannot name the defending champion or any one of the top 4 seeds
(not rankings) of the tournament as the dark horse. Your dark horse can
be one of your regular picks as well. But, one of your regular picks can be
a dark horse only if they meet the definition. You get points only if your
dark horse wins the whole event. In that case, you get 40 points. Otherwise
you get 0 points, even if your DH ends up being a finalist.

Wild Card: You cannot name the defending champion or previous year's finalist
or any one of the top 16 seeds (not rankings) of the tournament as
the wild card. You get 5 points if your WC reaches QF and not higher,
you get 10 points if your WC reaches SF and not higher, you get 20 points
if your WC is a finalist and not higherand you get 40 points if your WC
wins the event. Note that unlike the regular picks, the points that a WC
fetches you is based on the maximum level reached by him. Your WC
can be one of the regular picks. One of your regular picks can be a WC
as long as he meets the definition above. Finally, your WC can be the
same as DH as long as he meets both definitions.

The maximum amount of points that can be won by anyone is 240 (40 for QF picks,
40 for SF picks, 40 for finalist picks and 40 for the winner pick, 40 for DH pick and
40 for WC pick).

We're working our way to a full draw. :laydownlaughing (Only kidding.) But RB's point about getting picks in early is right…if you leave it late, it dilutes the significance of picking a WC or DH. I hope lots will play. We'll remind everyone again when the draw is out, and when the deadline comes up.

In fact, I would be more inclined to get the picks in BEFORE the first round, because a lot of interesting things can happen , and did happen before, in the first rounds that can affect someone's picks drastically.. But that's just me.

We can only be so strict. Plus, we used to lose people who didn't make the early cut-off, which was a drag. Since we really only have a draw from QFs, I think it's OK to let people still pick through first round. :)

Agreed but at monte carlo it was second round so I quietly tried to move the deadline up...

^ And well done, RB. I saw that. We're trying to be a little lax about it, since it's not a full draw challenge and we'd like to get people in, but there's no reason not to be a bit stringent.

Riot, is your dark horse fitting the definition? Top 4 seed thing?

Haha, completely forgot that he reentered the top 4.

Looks like fun, I'll have to give it a shot. Horrible at making picks though. I always choose the wrong pill.

RB, your wild card (black heart) also does not fite the rules, I suppose.

I really should not be running this game. Late season cold does not help the brain. I will edit my post.

If Novak drops out before the main draw begins, it would alter the seedings.
Many folks would need to modify their picks too. Also, it would affect as to whether
Ferrer qualifies as a dark horse (as in that case, he will become the 4th seed).
