SGA deserves some love man. Yes, he exploits the rules as they are , like MJ did, Kobe did and others keep doing, but it is not because he needs it man. He is efficient. He was 16 of 18 today. That is ridiculous in a play off game, in ANY game ! I agree with you in that he initiates things where the defender just buys it and commits...then he makes the most of it. But he does not CREATE situations that do not exist like Bron.
If SGA had zero free throws per game, he would still be an elite scorer, probably around 25 points per game, with his overall shooting percentage over %50...which is ridiculous for a shooting guard. And this is in a team where there are other legit scorers.
Brother can play man. Show him some love. :)
Oh I have nothing against SGA. I think the guy still manages to be underrated. He’s about to be 2x MVP and his team is clear favorites to win it all. He clearly is superior than the other mega superstars on defense with the exception of Wemby of course, and come playoff time that is huge. It’s possible we slightly overrate guys like Joker and Doncic given they aren’t good defenders. But I do think Jokic is still the best player in the world.

Wow, Edwards misses most the game and was not good when he was in and Minnesota still waxes Denver to go up 3-1.

If Doncic and Reaves miss the whole series then yes it’s at least somewhat possible. But I think Doncic probably would come back by game 5 if it gets there, or game 6 at latest. And if the teams were both fully healthy, the Lakers would have been decent favorites coming into the series.
You think so. I don't see them coming back at all this series. What for? Bron & the argonauts got this handled even if it does take 5 games.

Speaking of "smart" Good Grief, the rockets basketball IQ Perk said is the lowest in the playoffs!! Actually Perk said its a dumb team.. jajajaja.. This is strange series. I can't understand why understand why they are not double or triple team Lebron and make the other Lakettes shoot the ball.. It aint Complicated!!!
Well Perk said it, so it must be true. But they are pretty dense to not have made any adjustments. Playoff ball is all about adjustments. Let's see what they come up w/ for G4.

I would never pick a team to come back from 3-0 but it will obviously happen some day and some series are more likely to be turned around than others. If we were told KD plays the rest of the series and Doncic and Reaves don’t play at all, this would make it one of the more likely 0-3 series to be turned around that we’ve seen in awhile. Contrast that to something like OKC vs Phoenix where SGA and co could party with Tiger Woods before those games and the series would still be over.

McDaniels scored with less than 2 seconds fo go. They already don’t like him since he called the Nuggets bad defenders after game 2, but right now he and the Wolves are backing up his trash talking.

I think Jokic could have let it slide, it was not a vicious dunk or anything, but he had to rally the troops for the next game. He did it for the upcoming games.

Seems like Minny is living rent free in Nuggets psyche. Isn't this the 2nd or 3rd year they have fallen apart facing them.
Hey Kelli, Jaden McDaniels had the bulletin board quote of the century.. Jokic, Murray and all the players he called out by their full Christian names are "Bad Defenders".. They all are Bad Defenders.. Jmac stood on it and back it up.. Great to see fella alumni Ayo playing so great and thank God he escaped basketball purgatory the Chicago Bulls ownership and entire organization.. The curse of the Jordan Bulls is in full effect. So sad that Donte, DiVincenzo ruptured his achilles and AntMan (my favorite basketball hurt his knee and hopefully he can return sometime in May).. If Minny gets eliminated the playoffs are over because its OKC and the NBA Refs are at the top of the food chain.

SGA is gonna turn fans off from watching basketball.. there's no defense that anyone can play against him. He could NEVER had made on the playgrounds in the USA.. we would have ran him home crying to his mama!!
I don't know man...He is a shooting guard averaging %55 from the field. He is clutch. He would have averaged just about 25 points even if he had zero free throws. He can defend, he averages almost 7 assists. Don't blame the guy for being smart. There is a reason very few people from the playgrounds make it to the NBA.

Which old guard are you referring to BS? I mentioned Barkley, Isiah and Rodman in a previous post - but I think they are legends-- Barkley and Thomas definitely are.

Barkley, Isiah Thomas and Rodman are definitely 3 of the biggest culprits. Shaq too. The problem is the most popular NBA show on TV is Inside the NBA which features Barkley and Shaq, and they seem to absolutely hate the modern game and everything about it and have been doing it for well over a decade now. It doesn't help that their analysis is shallow, out of touch and at times quite scathing. In Shaq's case, he definitely makes it personal. Modern players were a bit fed up with all that and there has been pushback, which definitely went overboard with some ridiculous takes on all time legends such as Larry Bird, as you alluded to earlier. The other thing is that nowadays, every body and their mother has a podcast, whether it's former players or current ones, so the discourse has become quite a bit toxic.

and even when you look at stats you have to look at them without normalisation. Yes Lebron is at the top with number of points, but that's because he's been around for a million years. PPG is a better identifier of scoring proficiency. Same with assists, rebounds etc..

Lebron's PPG numbers are quite a bit better than Kobe, and on much better efficiency too.

SGA is a great litmus test for who's a casual fan who barely watches and falls for social media takes, and who actually understands what they're watching. He's one of the best guards to ever play the game and his current peak is some of the highest we've seen. He's a preposterously talented player.

Yeah nobody likes the foul baiting but he's hardly unique in that sense. He doesn't do it any more than most other elite guards in the league including Luka and Brunson.

not sure anyone here said that SGA wasn't talented. For me it's a toss up between him and Wemby for MVP. I would have zero objection if either won it. At a push I would say SGA should get it. But all that doesn't mean that the exploitation of the rules isn't annoying. For the record it's just as annoying when it's done by Luka or Brunson. What makes SGA particularly annoying is that at the same time he's flopping his way to the foul line (something his talent level doesn't require) we see Lu Dort on the other side injuring the opposition star player. We see aggressive defence from the OKC wings. Personally I love the defence I see from OKC, I'm happy the refs allow it. What I don't understand is why it's ok for the OKC wings to prosecute that style of defence but if you even cough in SGA's direction off to the line he goes. There's something wrong with this and it needs to be fixed. I would love the NBA to move towards FIBA style refereeing. I'm loving the physicality I'm seeing in the playoffs. We all want fair and balanced oversight, not something that seem stilted towards one team.

PS, as a Warriors fan it's even more annoying that Steph is literally grabbed and held on to, and he barely gets a whistle, yet if you even frown at some of this fkrs they get to the line. So you... and you know who you are can "casually" fuck off:face-with-tears-of-joy:

This was literally said in this very thread. The idea that one of the greatest talents we've ever seen would not have made it on the playgrounds in the USA is the type of dumb take only clueless American exceptionalism can produce. Nobody was calling you a casual...But a Warriors fan protesting the rules and crying about Steph's whistle when Draymond Green made a living on illegal screens which were never called is quite rich.

While you're at it I'd like to see you defend your lack of casualness (which nobody called you btw) for not realizing Lebron has the 8th highest ppg in NBA history, 2 full points more than Kobe and Steph.

I still want to see any evidence of LeBron insulting Bird. LeBron has generally been respectful of the legends that came before him. Maybe he did say something and I missed it, but basically everything LeBron says and does is a big story since pretty much the entire US hates him. I know he has anointed himself as the GOAT but I don’t see that as him disrespecting others, just that Jupiter-sized ego of his. Now if you come after Bron then of course he is going to retort like what we are seeing with Ron Harper (speaking of ridiculous takes).

A lot of the crazy takes lately from modern players have been from Jason Williams, who sadly is still popular despite being in the running for most overrated player in history. Patrick Beverley is another well known clown with a podcast.

Lebron never insulted Bird. He's smart enough to know better, and overall, he does respect those that came before him, even if he's said some disrespectful things about eras (but not singling out players) in retaliation, such as Giannis averaging 200 points if he played in the 70's or something like that.
