Well Andy being there with the Big 3 is like someone with an economy plus ticket being bumped to First Class on a flight.

It’s nice the individual gets to do that it but nobody is fooled. ; )

Classist! :face-with-tears-of-joy:

I get everyone's point, made over and over. But I suspect, if this is your problem with the ceremony, you didn't watch it. Anyway, I hope you do. I'm going to see if I can find a subtitled version, because much of the speech, and the best of it, was in Spanish.

Seeing I have time,

I watched the full ceremony on You Tube, a day later

In regards to Federer, Novak and Murray coming on court? I knew they would attend, I just thought they would be in the stands like Rafa's family and friends, quite frankly I didnt understand why they had to be on court with Rafa, anyway moving on,
Of course I was crying the minute I saw tears in Rafa's eyes, I loved his speech to Toni, what a relationship they had over the years, I thought at times Toni was hard on Rafa,Rafa accepted it over the years.
To have Rafa's footprint on Philip Chatrier was a fitting farewell to the the Greatest Clay Court Player and his 14 Roland Garros Titles, Rafael Nadal Parera!

Today is Rafael Nadal's 39th birthday. It is the first time his birthday falls on a Tuesday since he turned 28 in 2014. He won his 9th French Open title, and 14th slam overall, a few days later.

Rafa was born on a Tuesday back in 1986. He also won the 2008 French Open title, his 4th straight, when his 22nd birthday fell on a Tuesday.

The post that Don Fabio put up led me to this article. It rather made me cry:

May I recommend to all Rafa fans to get a copy of Chris Clarey's new book " The Warrior - Rafa Nadal and his kingdom of clay"
Love Chris's writing and has to be as BJK said on the back of this book, "The Top Tennis writer of today"

Pat Cash reminiscing on social media today when he first met Rafa Nadal

" I was meant to play an exhibition match in Mallorca. 30 minutes before, Becker says he cant play. They tell me you will play a 14 yo. I go on court, ready to give him a few games, so he wont be upset.
"I lose 2-0 and ask him for his name"
Rafa Nadal.

I always felt that Dustin Brown is a Tom Bombadil type figure, supremely gifted but oblivious to any responsibility for his powers. Listening to him on this, he actually is very tennis acute, and enjoyable. There’s a full length interview on their page but this is a good sample:

But for one day, the baby could have been born on Roger's birthday. They could have named him Rogelio. :lulz1:

Just kidding. Enhorabuena! Such happy news!

My 3rd nephew was born on Friday, the day after Rafa's baby (Roger's 44th birthday). His name is Johann Daniel. I guess it's a sign that he might be a great tennis player one day :)

I don't know...it didn't exactly work for Felix Auger-Aliassime. But good luck! And congratulations to your family.

Rafa said he would one day be back on a practice court!
It did take 1 year :) Rafa was practicing with Alexandra Eala at his academy, he was a bit rusty of course, he posed this on his Instragram page,

"One year later, it felt great to be back on a tennis court. It was great to practice with you Alex Eala, next time I will be stronger".

A question for Rafa fans, as he was asked this question earlier today on social media via Roland Garros@rolandgarros.

No cheating by the way :)

Rafa was asked to pick his favorite RG final? What do you think his favorite RG final is?

Rafa said his favorite was the first 2 sets he played in the final against Novak in the 2020
Rafa said he came into RG that year not really the favorite, also with Covid ,RG was held later than usual and colder
Rafa said once he got into the final he was able to increase his playing level, and was able to win.
