Anybody watch The Masters and The Chevron? Scheffler and Korda (whose daddy won the AO in 1998) are now the dominant faces of professional golf, hands down. Great stuff!

If you're talking about Nelly, I heard on the news she won her 5th straight event! Petre must be a very proud Papa as all 3 of his kids are successful in sports doing something to keep the Korda name out there well past Daddy winning the AO almost 30 years ago! It's so strange seeing his face every time I see Nelly! :face-with-head-bandage: :face-with-hand-over-mouth: :astonished-face: :fearful-face:  :face-with-tears-of-joy:

This Caitlin Clark thing is just mind boggling to me. Is women's basketball self sabotaging? Biggest draw in the history of women's basketball and her colleagues can't see past their jealousy to understand that this will ultimately benefit them!

I've heard so many angles to this. It's jealousy about her fame and fortune. It's a race thing. It's the fact she's heterosexual in a lesbian dominated sport. What I do know is there are a whole load of female pundits who've suddenly developed a bad case of 'get off my lawn' mentality. And I admit I find the irony delicious

This is how the rest of the world responds to America’s local sporting heroes. Tom Brady visits Wrexham FC:

Hey, @shawnbm and @Kieran , first time I check this thread. Huge Formula 1 follower here, I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of races I missed since the early 80's.

I used to be a Ferrari fan (being of Italian descent), but decades ago I realized they are too phony and obnoxious for my taste. I still cannot shake they completely, and right now they have Leclerc there, who I think is an amazing driver, so in the end I still root for them -- or maybe I hate the rest even more. I wish Lamborghini would come back one day... There was Alfa Romeo, but that was just branding.

In Figure Skating, USA won the GOLD medals in the Team Event over Japan's Silver! Italy salvaged the Bronze medal in the Milan Olympics!
I haven't been able to watch any of the figure skating yet, but was thinking of you!

I watched that! They make a great rivalry. Malinin is amazing! Also just watched the Ice Dancing finals. All of the top 3 were fantastic.

In an amazing result, Ilia Malinin crashed & burned in his Free Skate a couple hrs. ago! Shocking! Ilia couldn't stay on his feet popping his Quad Axel early on! I was saying earlier that too much pressure & responsibility was being placed on those tiny shoulders! I thought he was overworked just by helping The US Team skating both the Short & Free Skates! It was just too much after adding on the interviews, multiple photo ops, & the wt. of the World piling on! This was sorta like Nathan Chen back in 2018 w/ a horrible Short, then won the Free Skate dropping to 5th overall! Luckily he came back strong in '22 to win OG! Malinin can do the same in 2030 to skate in the French Alps!:fearful-face::face-with-hand-over-mouth::anxious-face-with-sweat:

That was heartbreaking. He sort of wilted. i totally agree it was too much pressure, too much spotlight. He was immediately gracious, though, embracing the guy from Kazakstan who won gold, and speaking candidly with a mike in his face just off the ice. Hopefully he gets his gold in 4 years. He's an amazing skater, and so appealing.

Every time I watch Skeleton, I ask myself, how come these guys are doing this willingly, like no one is forcing them ! Going down an ice tunnel headfirst , doing 125 KMPH....This is insane :)

The guy from Kazakhstan was doing his routine to the music of Dimas Qudaibergen, whom in my opinion as a lifetime musician, is one of the best vocalists that has ever lived.

That is what pressure does to these individuals, in fact all 3 top skaters failed to perform their best last night. That french guy managed to get a silver medal, but Ilia and the Japanese guy performed so bad they ended up 7th and 8th.

Guy from Kazahstan skated freely and had an amazing performance. I wonder if Ilia will come back stronger next OG. We will have to wait and see.

This is why I watch OG. So many emotions and stories. It's not about the money, but just athletes competing against each other.

What's impressive is that US speed skater Stoltz. They were showing his home gym. He said it's a budget space they mainly put together w/ 2 x 4's. He has 2 deep freezers in there. Dude jumps on top these freezers to build up his quads. Yikes....

Nathan Chen babe! I didn't think of it until now, but it looks as if the Men will only be able to send 2 skaters to Worlds w/ Ilia dropping to 8th! :astonished-face:
Yes, Chen. I couldn't remember his name, but he had a horrible program in the 2018 games and came back for redemption in 22.

I have to laugh! An Olympic Gold Medal is supposed to be the highest sports honor and no one knows this kid's name; Mikhail Shaidorov!:yawningface:
