^ Yeah, Hewitt's lobs are a thing of beauty. Was thinking it earlier actually that he's surely one of the best lobbers of all time. Nalbandian was pretty damn good too. I've seen both lob Isner and Karlovic. Fed had a nice lob against Kevin Anderson too last week.

Terrible. Remember when Bernard was the 18-year old who made it to the QF at Wimbledon in 2011, taking a set from soon-to-be champion Novak Djokovic? Then he stagnated and has basically been hanging around in the lower end of the top 50, finishing 2011 at #42, 2012 at #52, and 2013 at #51. He's currently #75 and going in the wrong direction.

What makes it sadder is that a number of his peers are finally showing signs of fulfilling their promise. Not a fan of the kid, but certainly hope he can turn it around.

He did have an injury fairly recently, so one has to "hope" it's the lingering effects of that. But good point, nehmeth. It must be galling to see others making inroads, when your game is going south.

I take back my comment of no sign of injury with Tomic. Had completely forgotten he just had bilateral hip surgery. I feel sorry for him now and maybe he came back playing too soon without adequate rehab/recovery time. Embarrassing score and world record but he probably shouldn't have been playing here at all.

I am surprised he attempted to play this tournament after his bilateral hip surgery.Last time I read he said he would be coming back in the clay season.

To Soasa, who is coming a bit into his own of late. I don't know what commentary you're listening to, but we had (the beloved) Jason Goodall, who said he'd talked to Robredo last year about Carreno Busta, and Tommy said he's the real deal, works hard and has a great head. He played a poor TB, but he's young yet, and beginning to get some good seasoning.
