I was thinking same. Almost funny to see him hit it with the right hand, it was so reminiscent. That inside in forehand from Alcaraz, after the forehand slice of Fonseca...I saw the mirror image of Nadal there, from the footwork all the way after the follow through.
You said Sinner and this one would be good learning experiences, and so it appears this one will be, too. If nothing else, in intensity.Fonseca's sudden drops of intensity always cost him dearly... it is like he switches off for a few minutes. Cost him (so far) one break in each set.
Definitely. In most of the match he showed he could keep it with him, but at key points it seems that he lacked the belief that he usually has. Also, some wasted chances hurt him a lot. He has a lot to learn still. You said Sinner and this one would be good learning experiences, and so it appears this one will be, too. If nothing else, in intensity.
It's a great experience for him to play Alcasin. I see where his defense needs to get better and rally tolerance a little cleaner. He still presses a bit when he's under the gun. He's 19, he'll get there eventually. You said Sinner and this one would be good learning experiences, and so it appears this one will be, too. If nothing else, in intensity.
You know what I like about him? Aside from most everything? After his match with Sinner, and this one, he's not hugging and smiling. He walked off looking pissed. As he should. He should want to win. That's a champion's attitude. None of this laughing and smiling and asking Alcaraz if he won't let him win one time, like Rinderknech. Fonseca's actually gunning for them. And he will get there. It is over. Controlled match from Alcaraz, well done for him. Fonseca kept it close, he had his chances. As we said, great learning experience, lots of room for improvement.
Rinder, Silent K and Hair Dude be begging for wins. You know what I like about him? Aside from most everything? After his match with Sinner, and this one, he's not hugging and smiling. I end up watching Draper every week. Opelka played super agressive and really good tennis. He fired plenty aces, but also good amount of winners from the baseline.Draper is up & down! We shouldn't be surprised I guess! Didn't see it, but he was knocked out by another big server, our own Reilly Opelka!![]()
