Does anyone think that Rafa can win the Rome Masters??

Of course he has a chance; esp. if Nole decides to take it easy! He has a tough summer ahead of him with the FO, Wimbledon, Davis Cup, and the Olympics! Why kill himself for another Rome title? :cover

The guy is #5 in the world, #2 in the race, has won Rome one billion times, has won 94387594375943 clay tournaments in his life, including 117.4 French Opens. I guess he has a shot.

I´ll root against him, as always, but I always find amusing how quickly we disregard the best players...

Tsonga withdrew.
Gulbis scores a rare good win against Karlovic.

Watching Zverev - Dimitrov. I keep wondering why almost everyone was thinking a few years back that Dimitrov will be a dominant player?? :puzzled

I don't think anyone thought he would be a dominant player. It takes a rare breed to be dominant. But he could surely be a steadfast in the top 10 challenging the big dogs consistently. The talent is definitely there, but he is all over the place mentally.

Borna was trailing most of the match. He kept fighting, but it was an uphill battle from the get go.
Anyway, good win for Kuki.

I may have been one of them, but I finally jumped off the bandwagon last season after he lost to Murray up a break in 2nd set and MP and up 2 breaks in the 3rd and allowed the match in Cincy to get away from him! He's so busy styling, trying to look like Roger, that he can't finish like so many guys in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th tier of the tour! :cover

I think that Cilic, and specially Wawrinka, have shown that we can never say never. Dimitrov has all the shots in the book. He could hang around in the top 50 for two or three years and then, bang, everything comes together and he strings a series of great results.

Having all the shots in the book does not make a champion. I keep hearing this forever. One player does not need to have them all, but know to capitalize and use efficiently on what he has got in his arsenal.
Grigor has always had a submissive positioning on the court. That is simply bad strategy.
He is not a good enough counter puncher like Andy Murray is. And Murray also had the better results in his career when he stayed on the baseline and not 10 metres behind the baseline.
I could go on, but I will stop here. Folks just got simply carried away, that is all.
