Lori McNeil beats Steffi Graf in this first round match. Graf was the 1988, 1989, 1991-92-93 winner at the time. The victory is still regarded as one of the biggest upsets in women's tennis.

In the bad ol' days of women's tennis; an upset wasn't likely even in the later rounds much less the 1st one! Martina can thank Lori for opening up the draw along with absence of Seles due to stabbing a year before helping her to make her last single's final! :whistle: :yesyes: :rolleyes:
