Halep finally beats MS in 8 tries. Head to head is now 7-1. Halep added another coach.

Was this the last match of the year for MS?

You could see the Haley/Sharapova outcome coming. Sharapova had come off back to back 3 set matches, and she simply doesn't have the stamina to maintain this for long anymore. Simona looked completely dialed in.

Great win for Simona, it was due.

Baron, when did Halep beat Sharapova before? I had her 0-7 until today.

I am really disappointed, Pliskova always loses when she looks she could win it everything. She so inconsistent last tournaments. terrible.

Good to see a smiling Kvitova back on top of her game - bravo.

As Woz said after the match: "When's she's on fire, she is on fire"

Welcome to this years 5th #1 - Simona Halep - it only took you 189 weeks in top 10 to make it - well deserved

She could lose in round one to MS which will hurt her chances of qualifying for Singapore. I am not keeping track of points, but I think it comes down to Garcia or Kuznetsova for the last spot.

Congrats to Halep. I really wish she could have won FO which would have legitimized her top ranking.
