A shock-loss to the qualifier today, but perhaps it’s a blessing in disguise? Maybe it will be better for him to get more rest time before heading to Paris. He’s young, but he’s been playing a lot of tennis recently, and we know he’s already had some injuries which seem to have popped up after playing too much.

Carlitos already had 8 lucrative deals before yesterday. I'm sure more will be rolling in w/ this win:

A few months ago, while we were talking tennis and football together, John McEnroe put Carlos Alcaraz into perspective for me: “He’s Patrick Mahomes.” McEnroe’s point wasn’t merely noting Alcaraz is a young phenom. He explained Alcaraz has every tool, physically and mentally.

I Don't agree with John.. Carlos is very good. There's no way Carlitos would beat 19-20 years Nadal on clay. Rafa's defense was too good on that surface and his movement was sublime. IMO

He’d beat him in the other slams though. Rafa is the only Big 3 player comparable so far but Carlos is better at that age. I wonder if Carlos will have opponents that push him to play into his mid thirties though, or even if he’ll burn brightly for a few years then fizzle.

At first I thought he and his team drank a bunch of celebratory champagne after Wimbledon, and someone got crazy with the electric clippers. It seems a little cooler than I had first thought. But it will grow back. He does have to be careful not to have a helmet head.
