And I can't understand how Federer's fans are still happy with that because if Novak would overtake the Federer's numbers then it would be very clear and without any argument or excuse (about the age) to see and to think that the Serbian would be the GOAT like when Federer over pass Sampras (this one was older too) and I wouldn't be surprised if he will. They never learn

Here we go back to the tired old discussions, I see. Let me know when Pete and Novak can face off with the racquets Pistol Pete used and on a fast hard court or grass.
I agree with what you say.
You get that deja vu feeling everyday.
It reminds me of the dramatic technique "circle thoughts".
I guess that could be said in conversations of many sports.
The conversation often goes round & round.
New information can hardly be found.

And I thank you, tented. Kieran and I stay in touch often. I hope you are well. Is britbox still floating around here?
I've heard a lot of good things about Kieran & his poetry & word-play & been told I'd love him. I wish he'd come back as he sounds fun & I want to get to know him. Sometimes you see Britbox a lot, sometimes not so much but that's usual.

Novak is a helluva warrior and has immense self-belief. He has had to fight from the get-go as he was never so overwhelmingly good early on as Roger and (even more so, and three years earlier) Rafael. Those two just dominated early on and Novak had to claw his way up past them. He has lost something like ten slam finals I do believe. He has paid his dues and now has a better head to head against both Roger and Rafa by three wins as to each. He is the Serbian Slayer and one of the most tenacious players we have seen. I am not a fan of his style of play (Gumby like) but you have to respect all he has done--remarkable really.

At least get your facts straight. Fed lost 10 major finals, Novak 9, Nadal 8.

Novak was the youngest player to reach the semis of all 4 slams as well as the youngest player to beat the top 3 in a single tournament.

He did just fine at a young age, simply faced peak fedal when he was a pup.

Your narrative of naturals fedal and hard worker Djokovic fits your dislike for the guy. Well, enjoy tennis this year, you’re in for a ride.

Let me know when Pete and Bjorn can face off with the rackets Borg used on clay and grass.

From seeing all your previous messages to other people (which I felt like responding to because I think you have a disgusting attitude towards other people but decided not to because I know that all people who challenge you get is a pile of abuse) I should have known better than to expect you to realise how disgusting & uncalled for your comments are. I'm looking for the hate button & I can say that I don't just hate your post, I absolutely detest your attitude & I'm not a nasty person.
Oh ok, I take it that you teach in primary school? A little preaching on sundays is so refreshing, thank you so much.
Why don't u like primary school teaching, Ricardo? In a rural town where I live it's the only decent permanent job. I'm very lucky to hold one. I teach maths in our school. No big money in a small public school but relatively safe job and a good reward from some kids & adult parents alike. Hard work but has nothing to do with your idea of "little preaching on sundays" which sounds like incoherent rambling that has nothing to do with my job and its challenges.

I was paying Novak a compliment and giving him respect. All I pointed out was that he had to come up against those two, who were very successful when he came up and at a younger age (particularly as to Nadal). I did not check the stats but I was off by one—Novak lost nine slam finals—those were from many years ago as he has won something like the last five or six slam finals he has competed in. So, he was something like 10-9 or worse at one time, which is very different than Rafa or Roger after 19 major finals. It is not a knock, just that he earned everything over the years. I mean—it was tough to beat both Nadal and Federer ten years ago and that was what Novak would have had to do. Novak May end up with more finals and championships than all of them—I’ll not count him out.

i'm glad i didnt waste time watching this match. i was hoping for a good competitve match, but once i woke up at 5 and they were already starting set 3, i knew someone was either playing lights out tennis or someone is playing bad. from some of these comments looks like rafa was out classed out there. the question now is, where does he go from here? what does he have to do to beat nole? congrats on another slam to Novak!

I wouldn't mind primary school teaching but prefer teaching people who don't get abusive towards others. For your information, I am not a teacher though I've often been told I should teach. I remember being asked to help teach in English, French & Science at school & when I was taking adult computer classes I was told I should learn to teach especially as I helped to teach other adult learners & on some training schemes I was on I had to help invigilate aptitude tests & teach but I'm an average retail/admin/library assistant. (I also taught the children who I used to babysit for their 3 R's.) I often get put on training duty a lot when there are new members of staff & when new equipment is being brought in I'm often the 1st to be taught how to use it so I can train other people. I enjoy teaching & training people. I think that teaching is an admirable job & feel flattered by the compliment that people think I'm a teacher but I'm not. Hmm! Since a lot of people think I should teach maybe I should consider it.

By the way, I had some idea you were a teacher by how patient you are with me when I ask so many questions.

Yes, most people like teachers. And it's logical why services with measurable benefits to individual well-being, such as teaching and medical practice, also paramedics, psychologists and all kinds of therapists, are generally regarded as noble, regardless how they are remunerated.
What strikes me in Ricardo's attitude (apart from his ignorance about teacher's job) is his use of "primary school teacher" term not as an accurate inference about anyone's way of living but as a derogatory label to down or ridicule the discussant he disagrees with. He's done it at least twice on this forum (to you herein and to Berg previously). As if teaching kids (as opposed to adults) would signify that a given teacher is as "retarded" as his/her pupils. That's why I gave hi\m a bait, so that he considers myself also retarded. If consequent in his opinion, he should think that I know no more than "little preaching". He should also think the same of Nick Kyrgios coming out to teach kids and to play tennis with them, having good time with kids & running his charity to help disadvantaged kids. Of course most of us do like Kyrgios for doing what he does here. But Ricardo should be an exception and should ridicule Kyrgios as doing "little preaching".
But I suspect Ricardo won't engage in this topic. His opinions are not well thought logical conclusions about the surrounding world, but an ad-hoc "little tool" to intimidate/bully others. Most likely he falls silent when his "little tool" misfires. Such "little tool" of intimidation would definitely misfire when used herein against me.

When in self-esteem boosting, confidence building & assertiveness classes I was advised to become an emotional well-being practitioner when I sorted myself out so I could help people who went through similar things to what I went through in the past but I guess I could also help by sharing emotional difficulty awareness to help end the stigma attached to it or write more poems about them if I wanted to.

I think that he must have had issues with teachers in the past. Teaching primary or middle school is actually harder than High school or teaching adults because primary & middle school teachers have to teach all the subjects whereas high school teachers & people teaching adults get to specialise in what they really like & are interested in. The idea that primary school teachers are only as bright as the children they teach doesn't make sense because if primary school teachers only knew the same as the children they taught they wouldn't be able to teach the children in the 1st place. I actually took it as a compliment because I'm just a retail/admin/library assistant. He doesn't really know me. People only know what I let them know about me. No one can communicate using extra sensory perception therefore the only people who know what I'm really thinking are those I tell. People don't always get the job that fully utilises all their skills.

As I'm always honest I'll admit I'm an improviser not a thinker so my opinions aren't really well thought out either. However, different people's spontaneity is different. Some people are spontaneously quite smart, other people are spontaneously very smart & other people are not quite the sharpest pencil in the case when they're spontaneous. I write stories, songs & poems spontaneously so think I'm quite good spontaneously though I do make careless errors at times. Some people would say that it's not exactly that I don't think but that I have automatic thoughts & don't do much deep thinking as I know I'm very good spontaneously so don't feel the need to.

Thanks for this wonderful and informative post about teaching. I'm glad that you took teaching kids as compliment. There is no doubt in my mind that Ricardo's motives were 100% opposite.
Expanding on my emphasis above: we had issues with teachers not only in the past, we still have issues now as we speak. Even disregarding the outlier 100% ignorant opinions about this job represented by Ricardo herein, there is still a systemic perception among sizeable population that teacher should be a servant to a paying master. Parents often mistreat teachers and argue their children are thought wrong things. This happens especially in western white culture. In the end money rules: effluent parents want to influence the poor teachers in their choice of what to teach and how to teach. Very sad. The relationship should be opposite: teachers who possess the knowledge and skills how to pass the knowledge, should be the experts who decide how to perform their jobs, including influencing the kids' morality. They should report internally to their principal and not to the parents. If parents are unhappy about their children's upbringing, they should argue with the principal, or even switch the school, but do not go after teachers.

You're welcome. I know. It will annoy him even more that his motive had the reverse effect.

I only ever had issues with 1 type of teacher in the past. That was my P.E. teachers. The reason for that was I was born with slight bronchitis which wasn't severe enough to need an inhaler but made me get out of breath when running so I had to stop running & walk instead. As a lot of activities involved running I was shouted at a lot. In the last school I ended up only doing 1/2 the amount of laps asked for & if asked why saying I couldn't count which worked until my P.E. teacher spoke to my Maths teacher (at the most inconvenient time as I'd just got 96% in the exam the week before) & I got questioned about it. I also remember having an essay to write in P.E. about the benefits of P.E. when I had hurt my foot & mother sent a note. Instead of the expected essay I twisted the question to why we must do P.E. & ended up writing things like "we must do P.E. because we get told off if we don't". I got told off about that too.

I agree. Parents are partially responsible for their own child's upbringing though so if they're unhappy they should be partially to blame. They should also think that teaching is a 2-way process. You can't teach people who don't want to learn. You can break down barriers as to why they can't learn & inspire them but they've got to do some of the work themselves. Encouraging children to read & buying them books is helpful as is making them a member of the library & taking them there.
