Congratulations to Lois Boisson who won her maiden WTA250 tour title in Hamburg defeating Bondar 75 63
Remember Boisson had that great run to the SF at RG this year
Lois is headed for her Top 50 debut with this win, up to # 44 in the live rankings
I must say the winning trophy looked like a long cardboard box, one of the ugliest trophies I have seen !

Just watching Vee and Hilary in their doubles match, some excellent shot making from both ladies and Vee hit a 190km/h first serve,
Vee and Hilary win the 1st set 63 over Bouchard/Nhgounoue
Vee in a yellow coloured dress which suits her to a 'tee'
Venus still packs out a stadium, seeing she hasnt played tennis in over 1 year.
Easy win for Vee and Hilary 63 61!

In the other doubles match
Wild Card Queen/Rybakina d Mihalikova/Nichols 26 76(4) 11-9

There's an update to the entries for the US Open Mixed tournament - and some withdrawls..

It look's lige Jannik Sinner and Emma Navaro is the highest ranked team combined - and Rune and Anisimova the 2.

I wonder if we will see more withdrawals before the mixed doubles does actually start, my guess is we will
Katerina Sinikova, who's applied for a wild card to get into the USO Mixed Doubles ( Katerina won the Wimbledon Mixed Doubles this year) had this to say and I happen to agree with her 100%
" When 2 world number ones in doubles dont get into the tournament there's probably nothing more to say about it".

Venus Willams You Are A National Treasure!
BTW It is the first time Venus has spoken about her fiancee
Venus said,
" My fiancee is here. He really encouraged me to keep playing. Do you know how hard it is to play tennis. It's 9 to 5 except your're running the whole time"
Venus is to get married around the end of the year to 37 yo Italian Andrea Preti actor/producer, they were first linked together July 2024, seen boating in Nerano Italy, along the Almafi Coast

Match Results 22nd July,
Kenin (6) d Baptiste 63 76(4)
Raducanu d Kostyuk (7) of course no 'eye contact' at the net from the Drama Queen 76(4) 64
V.Williams National Treasure d Stearns 64 64
Maria d Townsend 64 75
Osaka d Putinseva 62 75
Dolehide d Kessler 67(3) 75 63
Kalinskaya d Rakhimova 62 63

BTW,
With her win yesterday in Washington, Venus Williams became the 'second oldest woman player at age 45' to win a singles match, Martina Navratoliva at age 47 at Wimbledon in 2004 is currently the oldest.

Kalinskaya d Linette (8) a good performance from Anna, confident serving, clean solid groundstrokes 28 W 18 UFE,
1st Washington QF since 2019, after all her health struggles this year, the best performance I have seen from Anna.

In the doubles match,
Townsend/Zhang (2) won the match over Williams/Baptiste WC 64 36 10-6
Townsend won the doubles title in Washington last year

In a tightly contested match, Tauson fought back from a set down to defeat Dolehide 36 75 64

Yes a hard fought match for Tauson. It will be an interesting re-match between her and Kalinskaya in the next round. They met recently at Wimbledon.
