Coco Gauff has topped the list of the highest paid women athletes for 2025. According to Forbes, Gauff pulled in $33 million, the bulk of that total came off-court with $25 million in deals and endorsements, while she earned $8 million in prize money.
Overall tennis players dominated the Forbes womens list, taking 8 of the top ten spots, all of them clearing $10 million for the year.
Still as Forbes notes, the pay gap between men and women is a massive gulf, even if less so in individual sports.

Thoughts on this? I didn't watch it. But I found the whole hysteria around it a bit tiresome. And frankly after listening to the clip below, I actually started thinking that they were the ones being misogynistic. The idea that it shouldn't be shown because it would set back women's tennis is nonsensical to me. Women's tennis is engaging because you are watching peers compete. To suggest that this would be harmful would be like saying a college basketball team shouldn't ever play against a NBA team, when everyone knows what the result would be if that happened is ridiculous. These people are so caught up in their politics, they seem to think that hiding the fact that men are stronger, faster and more athletic than women somehow protects the WTA brand. Errrr no! We watch women compete against their peers and it's compelling. That's what sports is about, fair competition, who wins. Simple as that. Nothing to do with any comparison to men. That's entirely separate

I watched highlights of this match the next day, quite frankly like you I found the 'whole hysteria tiresome'.
To me it was an exhibition match that represented light entertainment rather than another landmark moment for gender equality. Both players laughing, joking, over the top grunting, underarm serves, Sabalenka danced during a timeout to entertain the crowd.Sabalenka and Kyrgios just wanted to put on a show and engage a younger audience, compared to "Battle of the Sexes" match in 1973 between Billie Jean King and Bobby Riggs, which King won in straight sets and took place amid Kings efforts to start a female tour and get equal pay in tennis.
