The WTA announced the first set of winners in the annual WTA Awards, which were voted on by international media members.
Player of the Year, Aryna Sabalenka, ( for the second year in a row )
Sabalenka earned almost 80% of the media's vote, reaching 9 finals, won 4 titles, picked up 63 wins and set a new single season prize money record $15,008.519.
Doubles Team of the Year, Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend,
They won their 2nd GS title together at the AO, triumphed at the Dubai Duty, also reached the final at the US Open. Their results across 2025 helped Townsend become the WTA World No 1 in doubles for the first time in her career, and the first player to top the doubles ranking as a mother.
Siniakova, now sits on the all time list for weeks as the doubles No 1 ( 174 weeks as of December 15) and is tied with Martina Navratilova for the most finishes (5) as the year end doubles No 1.
Most Improved Player, Amanda Anisimova,
Amanda reached a total of five finals, winning the first WTA1000 title of her career at Qatar Open ( Doha) and China Open ( Beijing) in addition to reaching her first GS finals at Wimbledon and the US Open. Made her Top 10 debut in Jury and qualified for the WTA Finals for the first time.
Comeback Player of the Year, Belinda Bencic,
Belinda stepped away from the tour in September 2023 to have a baby and returned to the WTA Tour at the United Cup at the beginning of the year, reached the round of 16 at the AO. The WTA500 Abu Dhabi Open, she cemented her comeback status, defeating No 5 Rybakina en route for the title.
Bencic reached the Wimbledon SFs for the first time and ended her season winning her 10th career title at the WTA500 Pan Pacific Open In Tokyo
New Comer of the Year, Victoria Mboko.
19 yo Mboko, was 2025's break out star, starting the season outside the Top 300, before soaring to No 18 by the end of the season.
Mboko contested her first GS at RG reaching the 3rd round and Wimbledon.
Mboko success in WTA1000 Montreal, broke a string of records, becoming the 2nd youngest women in the Open Era to defeat 4 singles GS champions at the same tournament. Mboko won WTA250 Hong Kong Open, ending her memorable season.
