Remember, he's a college guy so he'll be a few years behind everyone else in terms of maturity anyway. But MM and I have been screaming for a new coach for the last 2 years. He needs a new voice that can get him to the next level.
Yeah. I mentioned the age thing up-thread, though specified him starting late at age 12, which is sort of like starting playing violin at 15 and ending up in the New York Philharmonic by 25. Impressive that he's top 10, just 10 years after really starting playing tennis.

BTW,

Fabio Fognini has decided to retire today he went out with a bang taking Alcaraz to 5 sets at Wimbledon in his first match,
Sensible decision from Fabio. Fabio is a nine time ATP Tour winner and reached a career high of ninth in 2019, won the biggest title of his career at MC Masters in 2019, his preferred surface of clay, beating Nadal along the way.

Its a fitting end for Fabio. He has an interesting career arc: He spent the first half of his twenties mostly ranked in the middle of the top 100, known mostly for his good looks that had Tennis Frontier's ladies (and Fiero) all a-flutter. But then he won his first and only ATP 500 in 2013, finishing at #16. Ho dropped back a bit, hanging out in the 20-50 range, winning about one ATP 250 a year, before surprised the tennis world by winning the 2019 Monte Carlo Masters, including beating Rafael Nadal in the SF (and then...Dusan Lajovic in the final). It was during a time--starting in 2017--when the Big Three hegemony began to break up at the Masters level, and you had some 90s-esque Masters winners: Jack Sock, Borna Coric, Karen Khachanov, John Isner, Fognini, and a bit later, Pablo Carreno Busta and Alexei Popyrin.

That was his last title, but he didn't slip out of the top 100 until 2023, and then finished 2024 back in, at #91. He reached only one Slam QF, Roland Garros way back in 2011. Ultimate Tennis Statistics has him at 18 GOAT points, which is tied for 167th...along with players such as Jaime Fillol and Dominik Hrbaty, just behind Radek Stepanek (20 GP) and Rainer Schuettler (19), and just ahead of Sam Querrey and Karol Kucera (17).

I shall dub Fognini: The best looking journeyman of the Open Era! (and also a bit of a prick...sorry, but if you piss Rafa off, you're a prick).

BTW I was up close and personal with Fabio at the Rome tournament, when I guess he was good looking he was never my cup of tea,, I have always thought he had Botox because his eye brows were soo lifted :)

Come on, folks. Novak will spin this around and win it in four. We've seen this storyline before: Novak loses the first set, then wins the next three without too much concern.

Oh wait, he just broke him in the 2nd. Imagine that.
The thing about Novak , when he loses the 1st set, like clockwork he starts the 2nd & 3rd set with 2-0 or 3-0 leads in the blink of an eye, totally deflating his opponent. It’s almost sadistic.

It's amazing, no matter the level of the player! I sorta recall the 2021 Wimbledon final w/ Matteo B. a break down in the 1st set! As usual Novak succumbed to great play dropping the 1st set in a TB! I just SMH, but if Djokovic's able, he will always start hot in sets 2 & 3, usually getting a lead! I can't wait! :angry-face::angry-face::fearful-face::yawningface::anxious-face-with-sweat:

Novak reminds me of the Borg in Star Trek. The crew could kill them at first with phasers, but then they'd recalibrate and be impossible to kill.

"Prepare to be assimilated."

Just saw replay on TCC! Novak's kids are just adorable! What's this new salute between Novak & his son? I heard about it, but wasn't listening! :partying-face:

So this “weird” rainless Wimbledon with warm weather , does that mean the grass courts are baked into dirty looking Hard courts?

Jannik Sinner has proven to be Bens Sheltons kryptonite, winning six consecutive matches against the American following his straight forward victory in the Wimbledon QFs.
According to Shelton, there is something in the Italian's game that has proven to overcome
'His ball speed is really high" Never seen anything like it when your're going through the draw".
"When yo play him its almost like things are in 2 times speed. I'm usually pretty good at adjusting to the speed
"Its difficult when a guy's hotting the ball that big, that consistently off both wings and serving the way he is".

Thanks. Can you make one for the other SF. That way I can close this thread.
I did it. But please don't close this thread yet. I have more to say about F3, and sometimes we want to go back a bit.
