No, I get it, and he played 2 x 5-setters to start the tournament, I think. I've said here, and I've said before: if you want to be a serious contender for a Major, why play a tournament the week before? It might work out for him, or it might not. Then you'll learn. He's playing Carlos next. Will he lose that match because he's tired or has blisters? Or because he's over-matched? Because I'll be shocked if he wins it.
He is over-matched by Carlos. Last year in USO final it was obvious against Sinner that he never stood a chance in that match. I don't see much difference now. Carlos paced himself well and is peaking at the moment. He will need to have a bad day to lose in SF or not so inspired day in the final to lose that.
The upper part of the draw seems more interesting. Will Shelton manage to push Sinner who looked beatable against Dimitrov? I think Shelton has some chance and I have to agree with
@PhiEaglesfan712 he is fun to watch, even though he is kind of a serve bot. His FH is another weapon and he goes to a net a lot, plus he is lefty which is always a bit tricky to play against. He sometimes pulls off highlight reel shots which excites the crowd making him more than just a serve bot. He just didn't improve much and I feel he could if he would get a better coach. Let's see if Sinner will be 100% today.
I think Cobolli could push Novak too if he doesn't play too erratic and sprays errors. Novak didn't look too good against D-Minor, but he knows how to raise his game when it matters and reach last matches of the grand slam. It is hard to imagine that he will let this chance pass considering the age. He probably likes his chances to reach the final here, certainly more than in RG.
