Oh, I do remember the praise and expectations of him. All over tennis, not just here. Tony Nadal took him on as his next protege. But what I mean is that Fonseca has star power, and fire in the belly, which I don't think FAA ever really had. He had a game that looked like it would take him farther than it has, so that's what I mean by he "plays pretty."I was joking, going out on a limb as a fan doesn’t always pay off but it’s what we do. As a fan of little Holger I should know…; )
However in hindsight it’s easy to say FAA now “just plays pretty”, there was quite a lot of praise and upward mobility predictions for the Canadian at the time.
Hard to gauge, I thought Sinner lacked the killer instinct after a couple of neutral years before he cranked it up last year.

Ha. Well, one signifiicant difference is that I don't remember actual pro players raving about FAA like they are Fonseca (and please never confuse my thoughts with pro analysis!Careful now, I’m getting “FAA is the next Slam champion” Deja vu flashback vibes from all this Fonseca talk…. ; )
Oh, that's right. When I heard them say he'd past Djokovic, I thought they were telling me it was a record, but then I heard the rest. I was confused, and then forgot the rest of the story.I didn't see the graphic, but it isn't. Jimmy Connors first became ATP #1 on July 29 of 1974 and was #1 for 160 straight weeks. Lleyton Hewitt first became #1 on Nov 19 2001 and was #1 for straight 75 weeks. Of of course Roger, with his 237 weeks. So his run is 4th longest for a first-timer.
I thought this would be his graceful exit to the AELTCWhat the hell is Alcaraz doing, he has just been broken in the 3rd set by Munar? some of his shots have been way too casual, he better regain focus or he will be out of Queens tourament
Alcaraz comes through winning 75 in the 3rd set

Same here, oh well he gets to play for another dayI thought this would be his graceful exit to the AELTC
Zverev & Alcaraz barely survived their 2nd Rd. matches; Sascha needing a 3rd set TB! Carlos was pushed to the limit; 7-5 by Munar! WHO?![]()

Happy Little Vegemite are we lol BTW Bublik ddint blow Jannik off the court? or maybe I was watching a different match to you, the serve was the key in this match and Janniks serve let him down when needed, ! Bublik won the title in Halle a few years ago, if he can keep this form up he might win it againWell Sinner didn't make it! Someone was bound to be upset, might as well be Jannik! It's usually no big deal if a top players' upset B4 Wimbleon! Bublik just blew him off the court in his own way in 3 tough sets! Bublik & Draper are going to be dangerous! We'll see at SW 19!![]()
It's not that Jannik lost, it's the way that he lost that has to be concerning. The same flaws that were on display in the final 3 sets of the French Open reared its ugly head again today. Jannik better get that corrected quickly, or his stay at Wimbledon will be short.Well Sinner didn't make it! Someone was bound to be upset, might as well be Jannik! Please did you watch the match at all for starters I knew you could not help yourself with Jannik losing on his worst surface according to youIt's not that Jannik lost, it's the way that he lost that has to be concerning. Yep and a few posters are over joyed with the news lolFirst time Jannik has lost two matches in a row since February of 2023.
Haha. Well, I am a bit concerned - and I probably like Jannik a bit more than Carlos. I mean, Carlos is already the favorite and Jannik still the runner-up, but this loss makes me think there's a larger gap between the two--right now, on clay/grass--than I was hoping to see. I just think the draw will be important for him to re-gain confidence and build up some momentum, if he's going to have a chance at beating Carlos.Yep and a few posters are over joyed with the news lol
Apparently he cant play on grass now, I must email Cahill and Co and get Jannik to withdraw at Wimbledon![]()
