For a hard fought five set match hardly an exchange at net.
You could tell no love lost between those two.

You have no idea how much animus there was between those guys! I have a faint memory of them having an exhibition match here in Chicago back in '82, BO5 that must have taken 6 hours due to both players storming off the court outraged before being cajoled to come back and finish the damn thing! :whistle: :nono: :facepalm: :rolleyes:

It was a tough call as to who was more a jerk, Mac was the entitled spoiled brat , whereas Connors was the veteran asshole who never did grow up.

Always thought Ivan Lendl got a somewhat raw deal because the American media wasn't thrilled with him consistently besting Mac and Jimbo, once he got stronger, both physically and mentally.

However Connors got a late career resurgence to beat Lendl in back to back USO, whereas once Lendl overtook Mac he never looked back.
