I thought that although we have music, comedy & animal threads to cheer us up when we were down we needed somewhere where we could just relax, have a laugh & joke & just cheer up a bit when we were down probably talk about non-controversial issues too & offer book recommendations based on happiness. There are some good online meditations which help & I know some good ones off the top of my head so might share these too.

Contrary to popular belief you don't have to be a certain religion to meditate & anyone can do it. It isn't too time-consuming either. It takes just 1/2 hr-1 hour a day though you can take more or less time depending on your wishes. I'll have to type out my favourite meditation later. It is really helpful & relaxing. Meditation is marvellous. I love meditation.

Authentic happiness by Martin Seligman is a brilliant book which I really found helpful as is the little book of hygge. The Danes are the happiest people on earth & they practise hygge which I think is a brilliant practice.

I find painting relaxing too.

I'm glad you liked it. It's 1 of my favourites too. I love the song "Always look on the bright side of life" which features in it. I was going to share that song alone as it gets me singing & cheers me up when I'm a bit down but decided not to as I decided to share the film instead.

The joys of life

When things are going wrong it helps to think of all the joys of life.
It really helps when circumstances cut you like a knife.

I love to see horses in a field running free.
They're as free as a bird like most people should be.

I love to hear the birds singing at dawn.
Those sounds make you glad you were born.

I love to listen to music & sing along.
There is no sound better than a well-sung song.

It's good to be on a nice, clean beach on a hot, summer's day.
A ride on a ship is also a great idea when the weather is hot even if you're just going round the bay.

I love to see daffodils in spring.
I love people their cheery & wise words to bring.

I love sheepdogs running & coming up to you for a stroke.
I love listening to a good joke.

I like all colours except green, grey, brown & black especially yellow, silver & gold.
I love good poetry whether written or told.

I love the feeling & look of leather, satin, silk, velvet & lace.
Most animals are ace.
I love to see dancers poise & grace.

I love learning new things.
I love the feeling of achievement this sometimes brings.

When you hit rock bottom there's only 1 way to go.
You can't always feel so low.
There's always a way out no matter how things seem.
You can always have & follow a dream.
In dreams you can be who & what you want to be.
In dreams you are always free.

When it seems that everything goes wrong.
You can pick yourself up by listening to, playing or singing a song.
It's also relaxing to paint or bake.

The sound of birdsong in the morning

Seeing horses & ponies in fields.
My strawberry plants & tasting the fruits it yields.
The summer sun looking in through the kitchen window.
Looking out of the window & seeing a rainbow.
Spring coming & seeing the daffodils.
Reading a good book & all the time it fills.
The elegance of rhyme.
Going out & having a good time.
Going on holiday to somewhere nice.
Getting things at a discounted price.

Look for the good as well as the bad.
Try to be happy as well as sad.
When your days are dark & grey.
To be happy & cheerful find a way.
You don't always have to be sad & blue.
There's always something out there for you.
You've got a lot more going on for you than you might think.
Life is too short & may pass you by as fast as a blink.
Carpe Diem means seize the day.
Things won't always go your way.
You've got to keep right on to the end of the road.
You've got to keep plodding with that heavy load.

Some of the best things in life are free.
Things like how beautiful chicks can be.
The sight of animals being wild & free.
New born babies & a little pup.
The ability to make beautiful stories & poems up.
Going somewhere you want to go.
Not having to lay low.
Being able to say what you want, think & feel.
People who are real.
The sound of bird-song in a morning.
The colour of the sky as day is dawning.
The taste of strawberries & bananas is sweet.
They're very good for you to eat.
