I'm sure K would tell you herself that she has no dog in this fight. What she is observing is a pattern. Which is fair.

What you also failed to notice is that we were talking about the match, in real time, which I doubt you were watching. Munar had a much-older player on the ropes, and failed to put his foot on his neck. That's a fair observation, and has nothing to do with "hating." We were talking about Munar, and his failure to capitalize on opportunity. Sometimes there is someone on the other side of the net, too.
:yawningface:That's true; IRT commentating w/b different than conclusionary once the match was over! I'm just amazed Novak's held up w/ no real prep! Players much younger can't hang w/ the old guy! He's set another record by getting to yet another QF in a Masters QF beating out Roger (38) by 2 months! :face-with-hand-over-mouth::fearful-face::anxious-face-with-sweat::astonished-face:

I missed the last set. Surprised to come home to see he'd won it. Vacherot is having an amazing tournament.
Vacherot is a player not to be underestimated, in saying that I felt Tallon should have won this match up
I must say this tournament has brought up some surprising wins and losses so far

BTW,
Fun Fact at the Shanghai Masters as cousins Arthur Rinderknech and Valentin Vacherot both through to the QFs!

:face-with-tears-of-joy:OMG, the hate is real! I just can't believe you guys are still pointing out something malevolent by Djokovic! This is why I come to his rescue every time! These attacks on this man, even if you're amused by it, makes no sense! Most of the seeds have dropped by flies due to different reasons, the main one being fatigue & injury, but many have had trouble w/ the heat & humidity! Novak's almost 40 & you're giving him no quarter! Looks liike hate w/ so many others complaining about the conditions, but b/c he survives, he's faking & using the "okidoke" to get past a player no one knows! After being up a break or 2, m/b he's ready to throw up again! WTF? This is so irrational and sad!:face-with-tears-of-joy::face-with-hand-over-mouth::facepalm:
Boy bye! I turned on the tv and they were late in the 2nd set. I observed your boy bending over after many points, then finally laid out on the ground and Leyhani had to help him up. I don't know what I'm supposed to take away from that. I had to flip channels to make sure my eyes weren't lying. Now if the other player cannot take advantage of the situation as your boy was feigning he wouldn't be able to continue, then it's on the player. Again, a movie we've seen for 20+ years.

Frances Tiafoe apparently has shut down his 2025 season, withdraws from all his scheduled remaining tournaments, Moselle Open, Paris Masters, Vienna Open. Tiafoe currently No 28, singles record 26-22 and zero titles in 2025, not many bright spots.Despite missing Asian swing and indoor hard court season, Tiafoe did not have many points to defend and should not lose too much in the ATP rankings

On his 2nd MP Qualifier Vacherot ranked 204, d Rune 26 76(4) 64, Rune was down a break in the 3rd set, sad to say he was cramping,
Vacherot into his first Masters 1000 SF in Shanghai!
NOTE: Vacherot is the second lowest ranked player to make a Masters 1000 SF and he will crack the Top 100 next week.

Novak Djokovic played perhaps his best match in the tournament so far, as he defeated Zizou Bergs 6-3, 7-5. He faces Vacherot in the semifinals. A golden opportunity for Djokovic to get title #101 and break Gael Monfils record for the oldest titlist in the Open Era.

Hmm, everything's falling into place setting up a late Masters win for Novak! Amazing effort today! That kid Bergs is no slouch! None of these players are really as they have no fear, just going for broke all the time! Rune was barely able to make it as cramps took him over in the 3rd set v Vacherot; WHO? Djokovic's looking better & better! Can he finish? I have doubts w/ Medvedev, de Minaur, & FAA remaining in the draw!:astonished-face:

Musetti reminds me of Henri Leconte! All that raw talent, but can't seem to harness it! One day he's unhitable, the next it's like he's a newbie on the tour! Have to see it to believe going down to FAA! Must've been a "slash & dash" match where Lorenzo was overwhelmed! :astonished-face::yawningface::fearful-face::face-with-hand-over-mouth:
There's a bunch of guys in a similar category: Good enough to win a Masters, but not good enough that it is a foregone conclusion. I'd include Auger Aliassime, Musetti, and De Minaur as probably the top of this "Masterless" heap.

But this isn't the Big Four era, so there are opportunities. I find it somewhat of a tragedy that Kei Nishikori never got a Masters, but Borna Coric and Alexei Popyrin did.

Rune is such a disappointment. At one point, when it first started seeming like he wouldn't be able to build on that Paris 2022 title--maybe sometime in 2024--I compared him to Tomas Berdych, who also won an early career Masters then slipped back a bit for a few years, before climbing again to be a fixture in the top 10 for half a decade or more, but never won another big title. I wonder if Rune is going to have a similar career arc. I do think he'll manage another Masters or two because the field is more open now, but this guy is unlikely to ever win a Slam.

Side note to the Valentin Vacherot story, when he landed in Shanghai he was 9 spots out of qualifying on the list, only learnt he was in the day before his opening match, 7 wins later he's a semi finalist! enroute to the SF he has defeated Djere, Bublik, Machac, Griekspoor and now Rune.
