I think winning Shanghai will go a long way in determining whether Djokovic matches (or even passes) Federer's 103 tournament wins. Winning Shanghai would give Djokovic 101. He'd need 2 to tie (and 3 to pass). Then, Djokovic repeating 2024 and 2025 the next 2 years would give him 104, and pass Federer, by the end of 2027.

If Djokovic doesn't win Shanghai, he will probably go into 2028 still chasing Federer's title count.

Tuned into Shanghai for a bit. Why do I see Djoke laying out on the court after dropping the 2nd set. He's bent over after every point. Is he playing possum again? Anyway, these suckers fall for the okidoke every time. Munar is now imploding and losing the decider. LOL
Novak is the Meryl Streep of the ATP, would have 10 Oscars in the category “best ‘about to physically collapse on court”.

In probably the best match so far was Bergs who defeated Diallo which went for over 2 1/2 hours 36 57 76(8) to reach the biggest QF of his career, saving 2MPs
Top 40 debut confirmed.
Well done Bergs!

If he can make it that far. While the big gunz aren't here, there are still players that can drag him all over the court for 2.5 hours. We'll see how it plays out.

Rune showed a lot of patience in his match against Perricard with a 3 set victory 64 67(7) 63, Rune so far in Shanghai is looking good and he could meet The Fox aka Djokovic in a SF if they both make it.
BTW Rune will now face Q Vacherot on Thursday in the QFs he will return to the Top Ten if he wins the match

According to Reuters, the ATP is,
" Evaluating additional measures to ensure players safety, including the implementation of an official policy on extreme heat in consultation with players, tournament and medical experts'.
In Shanghai, 7 retirements in the first 3 rounds, show how serious the issue is.The heat and scheduling are literally breaking players down

It isn't just Shanghai. There are multiple tourneys w/ hectic conditions and players are encouraged to be conditioned for all surfaces and environments. I don't know how to feel about this. I don't know that giving the players a 10 min break before the deciding set is enough.

Lets see what the new implementation of the new extreme heat policy will be, maybe a 5 min break after the 1st set? might be an answer
Agree giving the players a 10 min break in extreme heat in a deciding set, to me is not the answer.
The court in Shanghai is playing very slow this year and with the extreme humidity, makes it difficult for players to adjust, usually the playing conditions in Shanghai are fast.

In the last match in Shanghai,
A visibly frustrated Tallon Greikspoor upset in 3 sets by Q Vacheron 46 76(1) 64., to make his first Masters 1000 QF
Tallon will regret this loss for weeks!

I think an extreme heat policy is just a band aid on the problem. The real issue is that we have tournaments like DC in July, the US Open in NYC in late August/early September, and Shanghai now. That's not sustainable. The real way to solve it is to put a mid-season break between the French Open and Wimbledon. Pushing the US Open to later in September and Shanghai to later in October would put these tournaments in much cooler and more comfortable conditions, and we wouldn't have to resort to an extreme heat policy. Plus, a mid-season break would give players an opportunity to refresh for the 2nd half of the season. (US high school and college students get a 2-month break during the summer.)

I see your point, still the tour will have to adjust for other tournaments late in the season eg Paris Masters, Indoor tournaments, ATP tour finals and also DC finals, the players whinge enough as it is saying the tour is too long and have to allow time off for holidays and training for the next season
Though I feel at present with these high humidity factors a extreme heat policy has to be implemented, to me seeing players barely able to stand up and having to be helped off court, ( Sinner for eg) is alarming

Jack Draper who has ended his season due to bone bruising on his left arm, and hasnt played since RD 128 at the USO, has hired Jamie Delgado as his head coach ( ex Dimitrov coach and also Andy Murray's coach) James Trotman remains in the team but will step back with fewer weeks on the road.

Draper actually played in and won the R128 of the US Open, beating qualifier Federico Augustin Gomez (who has never ranked in the top 100), before withdrawing before his R64 match.

Draper might go down as most disappointing season of 2025. After reaching the US Open SF and winning two minor titles in late 2024, finishing #14, he seemed on the cusp of taking a big step forward. At first it seemed like he would, winning Indian Wells. Then he stumbled, but reached the Madrid final, losing to Ruud. Still playing a solid level into grass season, then went out in the 2nd round of Wimbledon, skipped Canada/Cincy, and withdrew before the 2nd round of the US Open. He reached #4 at one point but is now #9 and could slip out of the top 10, depending on how other guys do.

Thanks I forgot he played at the USO in R128 I will adjust my post,
If Rune wins his QF match against Q Vacherot on Thursday in Shanghai he will return to the Top 10

:face-with-tears-of-joy:OMG, the hate is real! I just can't believe you guys are still pointing out something malevolent by Djokovic! This is why I come to his rescue every time! These attacks on this man, even if you're amused by it, makes no sense! Most of the seeds have dropped by flies due to different reasons, the main one being fatigue & injury, but many have had trouble w/ the heat & humidity! Novak's almost 40 & you're giving him no quarter! Looks liike hate w/ so many others complaining about the conditions, but b/c he survives, he's faking & using the "okidoke" to get past a player no one knows! After being up a break or 2, m/b he's ready to throw up again! WTF? This is so irrational and sad!:face-with-tears-of-joy::face-with-hand-over-mouth::facepalm:

ATP250 Athens Open, November 2-8th, Djokovic's family owns the event, formely held in Belgrade.
Joao Fonseca is on the entry list,
NOTE:
The ATP Finals begins immediately after the Athens Open, ti casts doubt if Djokovic will play

I missed the last set. Surprised to come home to see he'd won it. Vacherot is having an amazing tournament.

I'm sure K would tell you herself that she has no dog in this fight. What she is observing is a pattern. Which is fair.

What you also failed to notice is that we were talking about the match, in real time, which I doubt you were watching. Munar had a much-older player on the ropes, and failed to put his foot on his neck. That's a fair observation, and has nothing to do with "hating." We were talking about Munar, and his failure to capitalize on opportunity. Sometimes there is someone on the other side of the net, too.
