Down goes Rune; yet again! It went 3 sets, but even the commentators thought it "undeserved!" What a disappointment; going down to RBA! :slap:
Please did you watch the match RBA out played Rune for most of the match, Rune had 63 UFE ? he was a Mess!
A disappointment dont make me laugh! RBA deserved his win,

Well as I mentioned a few days ago, Fiero, Little Holger could have secured the #8 seed at Wimbledon with a win, alas , Medvedev can overtake him with a champ win at Halle. however I have to say it’s been a great run for the ancient 37 methuselah year old RBA .

The only other thing hanging is the young American 20 year old Alex Michelsen who’s on the brink of being seeded at Wimbledon at # 32. If Bublik wins Halle he overtakes Alex.

Say what you will, Alex would have a nice tale to tell his grandkids that he was seeded once at Wimbledon. ; )

Holger played like he often does today, which is unfortunate. He was playing a seasoned veteran, and he should have played him very tight. instead, he played him like an impatient child. He should have been enthusiastic to get to Alcaraz. Instead, he couldn't get past RBA. He IS exasperating. Today was the exact opposite of what he should have done.

Rune again was way too ill disciplined hence the 63 UFE, this has been a recurring problem for Rune, when he finds more discipline and also he needs to look at his shot selection, his ranking will improve

Yeah, Little Holger drives me crazy at times, all that talent, well let’s see if he can harness it enough at W.

Marin Cilic into the final at Nottingham
Hits 30 Aces and defeats Landaluce 76(7) in the 3rd
He will return to the Top 100 on Monday, far from his best, but not a name that top players will want to draw in the first round at Wimbledon

Who else? Novak limped to the Wimbledon final on a bum leg last yr., who's to really stop him? The law of avg. & time should go against Novak! He has made the last 6 finals winning 4! He'll end up being a dangerous floater for the top 4 seeds breaking up the talent he'll need to face! @PhiEaglesfan712 & I think dropping to #5 may be a blessing in disguise! The Semi & Final would be tougher if all 4 make their appt.'d rounds! It benefited Novak to catch Alcaraz in the QF in Australia earlier this yr.! Normally he'd of gotten past Zverev in the SF if not for his leg issue IMO! Sinner probably would've won the final, but I'm just giving out a possible scenerio at SW19! :fearful-face::face-with-hand-over-mouth::astonished-face::yawningface:
I think you are so desperate for Novak to retire because he is old, but you haven’t said it. You were harping about Federer embarrassing himself as he aged, and you were right.

Arthur Fils has withdrawn from Wimbledon with ongoing back fracture.
Hoping to see Fils back on the North American swing

At this point, I think the best-case scenario for Rune is that he has a surge sometime in the next 5+ years and plays consistently well long enough to capture a Slam, even challenging for the top of the rankings if the context is right. If he has that surge, the confidence might give him a nice run of a year or three in which he's challenging the Sincaraz Dynasty.

He's still young enough that this scenario is a possibility, but my main point is that I think the dream of a new Big Three has faded to the point of oblivion. This has probably been clear for a while now, but now seems crystal. Or rather, he's no longer the main contestant - Fonseca is the guy we should dream on. And to be honest, I think Rune is more in a group of guys including Draper, Mensik, and maybe Musetti, Fils and Shelton, who are and/or will be the new "second tier" going forward. Rune has the physical gifts, but not the mental template, imo. I think he's got the highest upside of those guys, but that doesn't mean he'll have the best career.

So if we were to imagine the tour in June of 2027, two years from now, I think we'll have Sincaraz on top with Fonseca rising to join them--either as an equal or not far behind--and then a big step down to Rune, Mensik, Fils, Draper, Musetti, Shelton and maybe one or two others. That talented "second tier" group will be jostling for places in the top 5, spare Masters titles, and maybe the occasional Slam, with Next Gen fading in the rear-view.

And of course there's always the possibility of someone else emerging - which is always an inevitability, but just a matter of who and when. For the "post-Fonseca" group, so far Cina and Engel have caught my interest the most, though there are other names to stick a pin in (Dedura, Blanch, Hewitt, etc)...but we're a long ways away from knowing who among that group will emerge as a player to watch.

In the SF at Halle,
Medvedev extends his H2H over Zverev to 13-7 as he won in 3 sets 76(3) 67(1) 64 he will await the winner of the next SF match between Bublik v KAA to play in the final, Meddy finding some grass form in Halle has he has SF points to defend at Wimbledon this year, this is Meddys first final of 2025
Medvedev is set to return to the Top Ten this week
BTW,
If Meddy wins Halle title, would be his first since Rome 2023, he should get a Top 8 seeding at Wimbledon

In the SF at Queens,
Lehecka d Draper in 3 sets, 64 46 75, he has lost only 1 set enroute to the final, Jiri is the first Czech man to reach a tour level grass final since Berdych at Wimbledon in 2010
Jiri awaits the winner of Alcaraz v RBA ( their match is currently underway)

In a very controlled business like match Alcaraz d RBA 64 64
Carlos posted 15 Aces with only 1 DF 37 W and 19 UFE he will play Lechecka in the final at Queens
A polished performance from Alcaraz.

I want Novak to retire if he has nothing left! Many thought he was done last yr., but stole an OGM in the twilight of his career! Alcaraz's biggest disappointment is dropping that match to Djokovic in Paris last season! An early OGM w/ his Majors would have set Carlos apart; even from the Big 3 who needed time to win that much! :astonished-face::face-with-hand-over-mouth::fearful-face::angry-face:

I guess that is how Federer fans felt a few years ago. The hope was that he could snatch a couple of slams before packing it in!! I feel you mate.

In the 2nd SF in Halle,
Bublik came back from a set down to defeat KAA 46 76(5) 64 exceptional serve from Bublik in the 3rd set
Bublik will play Medvedev in the final
Just a stat in favour of Medvedev he leads their H2H 6-0? can Bublik finally get a win, also if he wins the title in Halle, Bublik will be seeded for Wimbledon, Bulblik won the title in Halle in 2023

With Fils withdrawal, means that Lehecka will be a Top 24 seed at Wimbledon, avoiding a Top 8 in the first week
Tsitsipas. FAA, Davidovich, Shapovalov, Nakashima, Michelsen, Griekspoor and Berrettini/Bublik will be 25-32 seeds, note meaning Berrettini will be seeded if he plays
Bublik needs to win the title in Halle to be seeded for Wimbledon
