Repeat rant! - I suppose there are many different sides/views to this retirement situation! I already said way back when & continue to believe Federer may have held onto the GOAT moniker if not for him embarrassing himself haunting the tour another 5+ yrs. B4 taking 2017 AO! IMO, taking those 3 extra Majors in '17 & '18 wasn't worth it! A long time ago, most thought his 17 Majors w/b insurmountable! It did him no good w/ both Nadal & Djokovic breezing past his 20! I think like Borg the Tennis Intelligentsia would have given him grace w/ a question on their lips, "what if?" He eliminated all doubt by hanging on thru '21 Wimbl. looking every bit as old as Connors when he limped out of the game "spent!" :fearful-face::face-with-hand-over-mouth:
You must be confused!! I am not even sure if you are a Djokovic fan. Roger won his last slam in 2018, and if I am not mistaken he reached 2 more grand slam finals after that. Which means he still had what it took to win slams. Earlier, you said that Novak will stop when he has nothing left. I guess you know how much he has left. In my opinion, he has nothing left and he should retire. The game has become more physical.

Nick Kyrgios says the BBC's decision not to choose him as a Wimbledon commentator is 'strange'
"Its unfortunate but its probably their loss more than mine"
"I understand they've got Chris Eubanks be he hasnt beaten the greatest of all multiple times".
Quite frankly Nick that has nothing to do with it and if you really think about it you know deep down the real reason that the BBC has decided not to have you as a BBC commentator at Wimbledon this year.

The final in Halle will begin soon
Medvedev has a H2H 6-0 over Bublik, can Bublik turn that around today and get his first win over Meddy, he won the title in Halle in 2023.
Players are warming up and Meddy won the toss and chosen to receive

Of course the final in Queens is also slated in the same timeslot
Alcaraz v Lehecka, Alcaraz won the toss and chosen to receive., their H2H is 1 all

I thought slating 2 finals at the same time was a fiasco that only belonged on the WTA tour apparently not :)

Bublik won the 1st set 63 over Meddy, his good serving continues in the final, and his return of serve has been excellent he is one set away from winning the title in Halle, and also being seeded for Wimbledon, does Bublik realize how talented he really is and if he could focus more in matches that interest him his ranking would be much higher, I know he hates the clay, seems to come alive in the grass season

Bublik wins the title in Halle with his first win over Meddy 64 76(4) he will be seeded for Wimbledon with this win
Bublik has played great tennis all tournament and deserved his win
Meddy will return to the Top Ten, found form on the grass before Wimbledon, where he has SF points to defend
Bublik will be back in the Top 30 with this win
Meddy said to Bublik I hope your in Alcaraz or Sinners draw at Wimbledon :)

A costly DF error from Carlos in the 2nd set TB, it was tight but Jiri played better won 76 (5)
Gong 3 sets.
Carlos has found the rhythm on his serve again and leading 5-2 in the 3rd set,
Well done Carlos got the job done in 3 sets, going into Wimbledon must be ' the favorite'
Well done to Jiri, his game suits the grass, good form going into Wimbledon

I'd have lost a bet today. Bublik won in straights, but Carlos needed 3. I'd have picked opposite.

I doubt it was a commercial decision. But then if they are uncomfortable with Kyrgios they should be with J. Mac as well no? It's a fallen institution in this country to be honest, they've disgraced themselves so often in recent years. I don't begrudge them their decision, but given how they are I suspect their decision is probably for the wrong reasons. I'm not the biggest Kyrgios fan but he's interesting when he talks tennis, and is closer to understanding the thought processes of this current generation than most

Alcaraz has won 4 grass titles the same number Rafa Nadal finished his career with
Also,
Carlos faced 1 BP and hit over 40 Aces in his last 3 matches at Queens this week!

Apparently there was a revolt by BBC staff, especially the women staff members, about the idea of using Nick again

if their objection was because of something he had done to them, then that's fine. But if it's because they have a problem with him because of his politics or how he is, then they are the problem. And that's the issue infesting the Beeb right now. I can tell you for free that if Mac was a recently retired player and not a legend of the past they would be trying to cancel him too. It's tiresome and I'm really not surprised. This is what the Beeb is these days. Infested with blue haired, nose ringed petty tyrants whose feelings are more important that viewer entertainment :D

I think any unbiased person has Alcaraz as the favorite and Djokovic as the 2nd favorite. Quite frankly, this really shouldn't be up for debate. Alcaraz won the last 2 Wimbledon titles, and Djokovic has been to all 6 Wimbledon finals since 2018, winning the previous 4 prior to Alcaraz's Wimbledon titles.

Well Bublik grabbing the #30(?)seed for W with the Halle win over Medvedev avoids the dangerous floater for the other top players early on.

But he is so unpredictable, I mean his FO Quarterfinal run on red clay was his best Slam result in years. Would not be shocked if he makes a QF at W but I would also equally not be shocked if he flames out on the 1st round. ; )

I think Carlos could win 5 on the spin like Federer. He has the game!! Sinner should be improving on grass, and I hope the loss at the FO won’t diminish his confidence.

This is bordering on a logical fallacy, though I can't place which one: assuming a view is held due to bias, without imagining that there are other possible reasons.

Anyhow, I still see Sinner as the 2nd favorite. I'm just not sure that Novak is up for winning a Slam, or especially getting past Carlos, whereas I can imagine a scenario in which Sinner plays his very best and beats Carlos. I still think Alcaraz is the favorite, though, and the gap between Novak and the field is a veritable gulf compared to the relatively small gap between Sinner and Novak.

I guess I'm biased?

Biased? No. But... I can't understand how a guy who has been in every final for the last 6 years can be behind someone who hasn't even been to a final yet. And when that person has the single best record in slams of all time? It's seems more like feeling than processing data, which is what I thought you like to do. And I'm no Novak fan... :)

Once the draw comes out then opinions can be formulated. But before? I don't get it...
