Shapo should be proud of his performance in this tournament. I just love watching him play. He has a bright future ahead. Barring injury, I expect AZ and he will duke it out for major titles and the top ranking.

These slow conditions are really annoying. Swartzmann going this deep should serve as alarm bells to the idiots who chose the balls. If Nadal doesn't win here, being gifted a depleted field, including an injured Fed, and slow playing conditions, he will kick himself.

It is despicable, these tournament directors love to pull out the red carpet for Rafa. Whether they are fans of him or just love the long boring baseline play who knows.

Glad it didn't work at Wimbledon in the slowest grass tournament imaginable. Just comparing these conditions to something like 2004 is a night and day difference. Like I said earlier it's a joke he's already won 5 slams off clay with his game.

It's hilarious to me that Australia is now clearly faster than the US. Might not be so easy for Novak in those new conditions, even if he's able to recover to his old self, and I'm sceptical on that. I'm not sure he's made of the same stuff as Fedal

Well it should be said that Australia only has played faster this year and from what I heard it was all due to them resurfacing the courts either earlier or later than normal (forget which). They didn't change the surface composition and they didn't switch the type of ball according to the tournament director. So I'm not sure it's going to play like this year from here on out. RG switched to a lighter ball for just 2011 for some reason but has stayed the same aside from that.

Yes I remember. Wouldn't surprise me if they do the same again. They had to have been happy about the outcome

We will wait and see. I'm skeptical, they all love to be as slow as possible.

Hey, there's always Central Park. It's playing faster. Not sure whether they're the the same USO balls.

Here we go, the slow track shit again..however unlike SW19, I am gonna fall into this trap again..i am sure you (Darth) will get your antiNadalies (they know there names and unlike you they get real sensitive when I call them out, will follow your every post like you are some great messiah that is gonna lead them (the federetties) to the promise land against the evil pharaoh Nadal. Heck, I don't blame them it worked twice this year and the majority of the tennis season. Heck, if I was in their simple shoes, I probably would also follow your Rafa hating ads, too..cheers brotha..you should run for politics ..you have that kind of "base" here on this forum.

Very impressive Querrey! 1 hr. 17 minutes. He's got to be the favorite to get out of the bottom half.

Yes, I too watched the match. But, I passed out on the couch and did not post. It is probably the most dominating performance by any player we have seen at this year's USO on Men's side. But, Mischa got some sort of quick treatment couple of times. So, it is difficult to tell how much that played a role. But, I tend to think it is minimal and SQ's game is the main reason.

Now Uncle Sam is the highest ranked player (for the first time in his life) of its denizens!

I think between Isner and Sam, Sam has higher ceiling and Isner has higher floor.

I too expect to see SQ win out the bottom half. He said in Wimbledon pencil me for finals next year. It looks like he does not have to wait until next Wimbledon to reach finals.

You give me too much credit. I don't think I'm the only one in this forum or world to note that conditions at Wimbledon and USO have been drastically slowed down over the years. It's clear what type of game that favors. Fed has done well in spite of the slowing of the courts aside from the USO where he's stunk for far too long.

Worthless Dog. I was surprised some thought he might provide resistance today. That guy belongs near the top of the biggest underachievers list, he has talent but quite the headcase. And hopefully he gets busted for his obvious match-fixing.

Happy to see Rublev doing well so far. That guy is flying under the radar in the next gen class. He is going to be good. But it will be the asshole in the semis. He loves the slow courts and he is making the most of this depleted cupcake draw.

This tournament is a complete disaster. The bottom half is a complete joke with no exciting players left (Shapovalov was the positive highlight but he's out). The top half leaves my hopes with Juan Martin Del Potro. The situation is dire indeed.

While Dolgopolov was horrible throughout the match, I thought Nadal played a clean and smart match. He did not try too hard (part of it was his opponent) but it was still a good sign that he wasn't forcing his aggressive shots.

As for his return of serve, it was better than his previous three matches. At the same token, Dolgopolov did not really hurt him too much on his own serve. We will see in the last three rounds if Nadal can improve his return of serve...

Lol yeah what is up with that? The guy made millions, why fix a match? How much did they pay him?

Rublev might be flying under the radar with most, but I have been talking about him for a couple years. After he stalled in his development last year I was a bit worried, but this year I feel vindicated. He is a legit talent - possibly behind only Zverev, Shapo and Aliassime in terms of upside. I definitely put Rublev ahead of Coric, Khachanov, Medvedev, Fritz, Ruud, etc; and probably ahead of Tiafoe.

Also, by beating Goffin and reaching the QF, he has done something Alex Zverev still hasn't done. This looks like a real breakthrough tournament for him.

Nice win for Rublev. I like the kid, he's 19 and going to be around #35 after the loss to Nads on Wednesday. He's one to watch out for in the future too.
