Samurai is always battling injuries. He is made of glass for sure but sometimes guys like him are too banged up to play a certain day but are fit enough a week later. I don't think there was any reason he'd be afraid to play Novak last week in that QF, he'd have been the favorite in that match IMO.

Irony? the Almagro injury looked bad really bad, the Samurai's? he just said "I'm not going to play this next match...." and it's not the first time he does that
What are we even talking about? Did Kei say he's injured again? Are you complaining because he was injured last week and now just beat Ferrer? Let's be honest...a lot of people have beaten Ferrer this year. I'm not happy about it, either, but Ferrer's game has fallen way off. (BTW, I was thinking that he fits @El Dude's theory that players with a more physical style decline more steeply.)

^ It was long past time for the Ferret to start fading. Absolutely the physical style should lead to a much steeper decline. Maybe it can happen again for a different Spaniard :sith:

Murray isn't playing well, but that was a tough draw. Fog can be incredible when his head is attached.

If I remember well Fog was the only one who made Rafa to play three sets in Madrid

In case you think I have something against the Spaniards let me assure you that I'm all for Nico Almagro or Verdasco sauce becoming the Spanish #1 :yesyes:

Actually, that's an interesting speculation: who will be the next Spanish #1? My money is on Pablo Carreno Busta, although probably not for another year or two. As much as Rafa gets injured, it is never long enough that his ranking falls out of the top 10. In fact, Rafa hasn't ranked outside the top 10 since April 24, 2005 - the day he won his first Monte Carlo, after which he jumped to #7.

LOL. Actually, I don't see what he has against Ferrer. I know he doesn't like his style of tennis, but I'd think anyone could admire his work ethic, his heart and his having made the most out of his game. Top 10 for 7 years, as high as #3. And yesterday had his 700th win on the tour. Nice career.

All due respect El Dude..You have got to be the most negative so called Rafa fan it is, (you are like Donald Trump masquerading at times like he is a republican but all his values and beliefs are really that of a Democrat). I am gonna ask Miss Carol if we can find you another 2nd favorite player(how about Krygrios on grass, Dimitrov on the hardcourts and PCB on clay.. )

I am convince that Rafa stole Darth's high school sweetheart or took the prettiest girl in the school to the prom who Darth had "special plans" for

El Dude isn't a Rafa fan, and he didn't say anything bad about Rafa in that post. Give him a break...it's an interesting question, which I will respond to. Carreño Busta is pretty much all there is, and he's nearly 26. There are only 2 players amongst the top Spanish 10 under age 29, and "only" 8 Spaniards in the top 100. (Compare that to the usual 14-16 between around 2008-2011 or 12. At one point there were 10 Spanish players in the top 50, if memory serves.) I've found a couple of 20-year-olds in the 200s, and a 19-year old at #325, but the only name I recognize is Jaume Munar, and I have no idea how good he might be. The days of this Golden Age of Spanish tennis are waning, and it looks like the Spanish tennis federation has good its work cut out to rebuild.

I've also seen him say that he roots for Roger first, and then someone new to win a tournament. He didn't say anything bad about Rafa in that particular quote. And if he says he enjoys watching Rafa, good for him, esp. as a Fed fan, because it means he loves great tennis, despite his loyalties. It doesn't mean he loves him or roots for him, just because he likes to watch him play.

That's your opinion, however closed-minded and vindictive. Personally, I can't think of a significant player that doesn't have something I appreciate, however much I may not care for them or their game. I certainly don't drool over the end of their careers. But that's me, and a deep hatred of certain players is what makes you Darth. :vampire:
