Great line up, a chance for Raonic to prove his win last week was a step forward, and not just a blip in Federer's year. And Andy has a tough job against the Samurai, but the Highlander was always too tough for Samurai warriors...

I am very confident that Novak will win the YEC and retain the No 1 position in 2014

In saying that,the other player I would love to win the YEC would be Murray.Murray deserves all the credit for playing smaller tournaments just to qualify for the YEC this year.Also the surface at London suits his game.I hope he can get off to a good start with a win against Nishikori.Go Muzz!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think the surface is actually really bad for Murray and is a big part of the reason Roger has taken him to the woodshed there. The surface is a dream for Nole and he is the favorite to win, only Roger and maybe Kei has any kind of a chance.

When was the last time Federer lost two matches in a row - and it was the same player beat him both times?

Probably extremely rare that it has happened to anyone when you think about it. If he did it to the serve bot it'd be beyond pathetic.

After the USO, he only lost two matches, one to Murray (who was pushing hard to qualify)
and one to Karlovic (in a third set tie breaker). He did win the Moscow indoor tourney;
that was just three weeks ago.

Finally, Cilic is generally good at indoor tourneys even before he found his mojo recently.
Most of his titles were from indoor stuff.

No, but he won other matches between those defeats, did he? What I'm looking for is two successive matches lost - and it was the same player beat him each time. Could be that happened then too, did it?

It's very unlikely as it would need to be a first round loss the second time. You would need an unlikely draw in the first place, then a mediocre player (not seeded) to beat him twice.

Not saying Milos is mediocre, the wtf make it a bit different.

This. The WTF is the only time it can realistically happen to a good player, otherwise they lose to a weak player twice in a row. I know it hasn't happened to Roger in the past 11 years, I'd remember something that bad...and I don't suspect it will happen this time either. I'd like to think too much pride and game to let the one trick pony embarrass him twice in a row.

It could happen with Davis Cup as well, but it's true, the opportunities would be scarce. Big chance for Mad Milos to get angry again then... :)

Not a big chance at all, he needs Roger to have one of his worst serving performances of the year again. Fed has a small chance to salvage his year, going out meekly to Milos and crew would put the final nail in a poor season.
