In light of Michelle Obama's recent inane tweet, I would like to pose this question to the board. This is what Michelle Obama said in a tweet:
"@GretaThunberg, don't let anyone dim your light. Like the girls I've met in Vietnam and all over the world, you have so much to offer us all. Ignore the doubters and know that millions of people are cheering you on."
One way in which Mrs. Obama is right is in her assertion that "millions of people are cheering" for Thunderberg. That is precisely why what Greta is doing is not "courageous," but simply riding the coattails of a fashion wave that started a while back with Al Gore and others. Courage doesn't get you celebrated by the powers-that-be to the point that you are named Time Magazine's Person of the Year at age 16.
Judith Curry, on the other hand, is a global warming skeptic with a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in geophysical sciences. You would think she would be celebrated as an accomplished modern woman, but no. She is a global warming skeptic so she has no fame or magazine covers as person of the year. She is not up to Greta's standards.
