The amount of misallocation of capital is probably without comparison in human history. We're seeing something that will result in a Japanese style lost decades scenario. Without China ever reaching first world per capita income levels. It's tragic but China will almost certainly never surpass the US in economic size. Not with demographics like they have. It's estimated that by the end of this century their population will be 300 - 500million less than it currently is. There has NEVER been a demographic collapse like that before.
