I love Chungking Express, but my favorite Wong-Kar Wai is In the Mood for Love:

It's not the best trailer, but it is one of my favorite films. Every frame is gorgeous.

I am still waiting for a prequel to "300".

they should have done it while the iron was hot. 300 was quite popular globally.

That is also a great film (my second favorite probably). Tony Lueng is incredible. The first of his I saw was 2046. Me and my friend went to see it at the theater (in alabama of all places) thinking it was a sci-fi flick and it blew our 18 year old minds.

Oh, I love that story, RB! Tony Leung stars in the new one. I love him. (Have you seen "Days of being Wild?" Chungking Express is much finer, but you might enjoy it. Even better is "Happy Together." All of these we shot by the mad genius, Christopher Doyle.

Here's another one for you, CD. Have you ever seen "Hero," by the Chinese master filmmaker Zhang Yimou?

Breathtakingly beautifully shot movie that alright. So is this film by the same director which no doubt you've seen also.

I saw both those films by Zhang Yimou. I Have to say, they're more style than substance, for me. less woulda been a whole lot more. And the advertisement for totalitarianism in Hero stuck in my craw.

Just watched The Bourne Legacy, a re-heat of a brilliant franchise. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but that's probably because it doesn't stray far from being a photocopy of the Matt Damon movies. It went down well with the dinner, though...

I re-watched Papillon last night for the first time in probably thirty years. I really liked that movie as a teenager and recall the scenes when Steve McQueen was in seclusion for years at a time (who can forget him eating insects off the floor???), but it came off now (at almost fifty) as quite different and less than I had remembered it being. Strange how the passage of time and my own changes over the years can make a film I thought so much of not mean nearly as much now. Perhaps I should revisit it when I am eighty?

Yeah, it's disappointing when that happens, Shawn. Happened with me and Do The Right Thing, by Spike Lee. I cringed with embarrassment last time I watched it...

Um... there was an incident on facebook this evening that caused me to remember one of the worst movies I've ever seen: "Kung Pow - Enter the Fist" Enjoy the trailer.

Well, I don't know if this posts or not, but it is one of most intense, moving and sad scenes of any movie I have ever seen. Watched it again last night for first time in twenty years and it still moved me to tears.
