The greatness and ideal mindset of Terrell Owens....

To me, T.O. and Moss are basically equals. I don't prefer one to the other, in a general sense. Both have been extremely intelligent players and are very gifted. I place them in the same category.

T.O. has a perfectionist and idealistic mindset of a very unique nature. That is what has gotten him into trouble so often. His arrogance at times went overboard, but the fundamental reason for the tensions he experienced was the perfectionist/idealistic aspiration he had along with his high IQ.

Skip Bayless has, despite being a Terrell Owens critic for years, relayed the story on numerous occasions of getting a call from the great Bill Walsh when Bayless was a reporter in the bay area and being told by Coach Walsh that T.O. was the smartest receiver he ever coached in chalkboard sessions.

But, like Moss, T.O. was a fabulous receiver. They both exemplified exceptional talent and ideal mindset for the receiver position (and playmaking in general).

Excellent post Cali..TO is everything you mentioned and more. His issues was that he isn't a very smart businessman which he let hamper his better judgement in dealing with ownership. Bill Walsh stated very clearly when TO acted a complete fool by leaving the 49ers, he was gonna cause himself millions and hamper his career. TO never got more than a 3 -5 year deal after leaving the 49ers which has affected him during his prime years with the Eagles and the Cowboys

They are similar personality wise. All about ME! They were different as far as receivers go. Moss was more the deep threat while TO was more of an all around threat. Both were great receivers without a doubt. Future HOF'ers

Great article, but in my opinion , Randy is better, his hands are better than TO's, and TO is famous for his drops and other muffs

Agreed they both had character issues, but I think they were different also - Moss was more of a sulky character who's performances would be affected. Owens was more of a blame game man - disruptive with his locker room comments about team mates and coaches - but at least he still played hard.

Good points. I think TO's main problem is he pretty much never got along with any qb he played with and no matter what he complained that he was not getting the ball enough. You pass it to TO 15 times in a game he will eventually whine that it is not 20.

Nonsense. As is typical, you are not giving Owens enough credit for why he complained. He felt that his teams were not going about offense in the most effective manner if they dilly-dallied and tried to be well-rounded in petty, inconsequential ways. His attitude was "if we want to win and getting me the ball is the easiest route to get there, why not do it?" This was a clear-sighted and logical thought process, not the case of a whining idiot who just thinks of nothing more than getting more touches.
