Here is the latest edition of “Strange but True” tales involving current or former tennis pros…This occurrence happened very recently involving a former World No. 1 player.

A friend of the player called the home of the former top player to communicate he was coming over. The wife of the player took the message but apparently didn’t relay the message that the friend was arriving.

The friend arrived to the luxury mansion home and entered the combination to the lock at the gate. It was night. The ex player then suddenly jumped the guest and applied some kind of choke hold to his neck. “He said he thought I was a robber. He held my neck so long I couldn’t breathe. He’s crazy,” said the friend — or now former friend.

Lendl by any chance? The guy has a warped sense of humour. I read an anecdote once that he invited Stefan Edberg over for dinner (one of the very few players he actually liked) and set his dogs (German Shepherds) on the Swede to see how he'd react.

Britbox LOL, that's a great story about Ivan The Terrible. But no, it's not Lendl in this case.

Just a note, Scoop, if by chance you keep confirming who the former #1 is not, sooner or later by exclusion people could know with reasonable certainty who he is... the list of #1´s is not that long...
