When will people learn, you can't just waltz into a slam with no matches and expect to win the thing. Did you hear what Babs said last week? "I can be dangerous". Apparently only to herself... :bye:
Maybe Babs needed to learn ' a hard lessen' first....I dont think anyone was surprised she lost, I wasn't
Babs was out for 4 months from the tour with a elbow injury.First match back on tour

Maybe. I can't believe she didn't try to get in a match or two at Strasbourg. The first match back from an injury layoff cannot be the slam title that you're defending.

Well she was supposed to play Strasbourg and then she withdrew? I agree she needed some clay matches before RG

So in other words, she wasn't really ready. She should have withdrawn and got ready for the grass.
Just read she said.....she had to start somewhere on her comeback...she can now prepare for the grass.

Yeah, I hear ya but don't agree w/ her logic. There's already immense pressure to defend all those points. Why add even more when you're not up to snuff?

To me trying to come back on tour after 4 months , playing your first match on clay, and clay of all surfaces is a hard task, regardless if you are the defending champion or not.Let's see how she handles the grass season.

BTW Osaka said she may not play Wimbledon because of no ranking points?
Quite frankly Osaka needs grass play another surface she has yet to do any good on.

Emma in trouble. She's playing against a hotter teen than herself.

I wonder how many people will play Wimby. Let me ask an obvious question, if there are no ranking points, does it still count as a slam in the record books?

Well I still feel it is 'the prestige of winning Wimbledon' points or no points.People are now saying it is an 'exhibition' than a Grand Slam,I would think it would still be counted as a slam in the record books.

Czech 17 year old Naskova really dictating play over Emma Raducanu 36 winners so far in the match
1st set 76(4) leading 2-1 with a break in the 2nd set, Emma broke back, won the 2nd set 75, going three sets now.
Naskova 40 W 42 UFE
Raducanu 16W 21UFE

Four of the five top 10 seeds on the bottom half of the draw have lost in the first round,
No 2 Krejcikova
No 5 Kontaveit
No 6 Jabeur
No 10 Muguruza.

Noskova's aggressive play not helping her one bit in the 3rd set, making more UFE than winners
Raducanu wins 67 (5) 75 61.
