Switzerland’s Martina Hingis and Timea Bacsinszky successfully navigated through their second round match against Americans Bethanie Mattek-Sands and CoCo Vandeweghe in straight sets. The Swiss pair won 6-4 6-4 to keep their medal hopes alive.

The Russain pairing of Svetlana Kuznetsova and Darya Kasatkina defeated Misaki Doi and Eri Hozumi of Japan 6-4 1-6 6-1 in a match that enjoyed some big momentum swings.

British Hopes Dashed

British hopes were dashed when Johanna Konta and Heather Watson fell to the Taiwanese pairing of Chan Hao-Ching and Chan Yung-Jan who are the third seeds in the tournament.
