The Tournament:

The Ostrava Open (known as the J&T Banka Ostrava Open for sponsorship reasons) is a tennis tournament organised for female professional tennis players, and part of the WTA tour. It is a Premier-level tournament held in October 2020, played on indoor hard courts, and organised to make up for the many tournaments cancelled during the 2020 season, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The tournament attracted four top-20 players, including two-time grand slam champion and former world no. 1 Victoria Azarenka.

About Ostrava:

Ostrava is a city in the north-east of the Czech Republic, and the capital of the Moravian-Silesian Region. It has about 288,000 inhabitants. It lies 15 km (9 mi) from the border with Poland, at the meeting point of four rivers: Oder, Opava, Ostravice and Lučina. In terms of both population and area Ostrava is the third largest city in the Czech Republic, the second largest city in Moravia, and the largest city in Czech Silesia. It straddles the border of the two historic provinces of Moravia and Silesia. The wider conurbation – which also includes the towns of Bohumín, Doubrava, Havířov, Karviná, Orlová, Petřvald and Rychvald – is home to about 500,000 people, making it the largest urban area in the Czech Republic apart from the capital, Prague.

Jabeur v. Ostapenko seems like an interesting match. And Jen Brady is having a good run these days. I always root for Coco, and, if I may add, I love her navy polka dotted tennis dress.

Wow Qualifer Sorribes Tormo playing in her first Premier q/final 1st set 60 and was up 4-0 in the 2nd set only to lose it 64 to (3) Sabalenka.....I hope mentally that does not destroy her in the final set.

From 0-6 0-4,Sabalenka wins 12 straight games in a row to defeat Sara Sorribes Tormo 06 64 60
Must be the "Comeback Match Of The Year".

Damn, Sabalenka!

Have never seen this before. Losing 0-6, 0-4 and she goes on to win 12 straight games to win 0-6, 6-4, 6-0.
Tormo is going to have a sleepless night.
I still cannot believe it....well it has been a strange year in tennis...

Sakkari v Vika is the one I've been looking forward to. I picked Vika in my draw (and to win the whole thing,) but I'd be happy with either, as they are 2 of my favorites. Sakkari had BPs in the first game, but it's all Vika right now: 3-0.
