Ranking pressure here on Nico Almagro, if he loses early, he will drop out of the top 100

The other tournament may have a stronger field, but this has a much cooler name.

Here's an odd one: Lamine Ouahab (#313) beat Robin Haase 2 and 4 in straights. He's 30.

The lovely Pablo Andujar, 2x winner here, is out at the hands of Haider-Mauer in straights. :(

Ouahab did more damage in Casablanca. This time his victim was top seed Garcia Lopez: 6-3, 6-3.

Someone who likes to play on clay!
Highest rank 114, back in 2009.
Started this year at 586. Won 3 events (1CH and 2F) all on clay of course, ranked 313 before Casablanca and already projected to be ranked 210, after his run to the QF here.

Represents Marocco, but lives in Spain.

From Algiers, plays for Morocco, trains in Spain...that's all of a piece. He has probably hit around with both guys that he beat, so maybe not so astonishing, plus he's got local support, but he is 30.

The dream is over for Lamine Ouahab... for now.

Next stop, get a wildcard for the qualifying of some bigger tournament, meet Nadal in R1, and see his name misspelled here for ages.

Klizan defeated Almagro in straight sets. Nico still not at his best.

I said that this event has a weak field. Here you go, Daniel Gimeno-Traver ranked 95 makes his first ever tour final by beating Vesely: 6-7, 6-4, 6-4.
