Fedal Both Win Titles?

With Rafa and Roger through to the semis in Doha and Brisbane, I was wondering if anyone had any idea when the last time (if it's happened) that they each won a title on the same week.

2008 Queens and Halle would be my guess. It's not often they play different tournaments the same week. Only other guess would be 2010 when Fed won Stockholm and Nadal won one of the small Asian tournaments, not sure if they were the same week.

2008 Wimbledon final. They both won the title that day, if Roger detractors who suddenly discovered their respect for the man after that match are to be believed.

Even weirder was how the respect lasted 2 months...until he won the US Open.

Yes, it is a bizarre thing where he seems to garner more respect when he loses as opposed to when he wins. Sometimes he is downright lucky to win but oh how valiant he looks in defeat

Okay I admit the WTF isn't as big as the Olympics, but let's not pretend Rafa doesn't want that trophy. Hence the constant chatter from him and uncle Antoine about changing the surface to French clay.

But seriously, I think most avid tennis fans (that would be all of us,) respect the tennis of their favorites' biggest rivals. It's just a question of how magnanimous you're willing to be, and when. If your player wins a big, and especially hard-fought match, it's easier to be generous to the rival player. Once they're back to winning ways, it's harder to spare them the kind words. (Sticks in the throat/on the keyboard. :snigger)

I respect Federer's, Djokovic's and Murray's games. Giving their fans a hard time is about talking smack, and swaggering on behalf of our favorites…all in good fun, though sharp elbows can be involved. But no lack of actual respect.
