Predict the ATP 2014 Year End Top 10 Ranked players!

You will get 5 points for every player in your list that makes it in the top 10, no matter the order.
You get an extra 5 points for every player in your list that is in the correct rank position.

Maximum score: 100 points
Deadline for final entry (no edits after this): December 29, 2013

Prizes to be determined later. It might a prestigious certificate of some kind, or something more. Perhaps Britbox and others might have some ideas for prizes.

Time permitting, I will try to run additional contests next year during each of the majors.

Oh, and this is just for fun, so please respect everyone's predictions. :)

Good luck everyone!

The page and post number follow each contestant's name.

Note: The 17 players listed are those that were picked by contestants and are listed in the order of their 2013 final ranking. If a contestant did not choose one of the players listed, then that player is "filled in" with the next eligible rank higher following the contestants last ranked choice for purposes of averaging.

RE: CONTEST: Who will be the ATP 2014 Year End top 10 players?

Good one! Obviously a difficult one too. Maybe I'll change my opinion after NADA2009RG has authoritatively told us his top 10.

Here goes:
1. Djokovic (yeah, surprising I know)
2. Nadal
3. Murray
4. Del Potro
5. Tsonga
6. Federer
7. Berdych
8. Ferrer (last year in top 10)
9. Raonic
10. Isner

Thanks Denisovich!

And yes, you may change your list anytime up to Dec 29, but I have a feeling you won't be so easily influenced by others, but perhaps instead by the last few events of the year. ;)

Good luck and thanks again for breaking the ice and being brave enough to post your list first. :clap

Respectfully,

I don't know the order, but Nole, Rafa, Delpo and Murray will be there. I also believe Roger will be in top ten as he stands to gain quite a few points if he plays better than last year. I get the feeling Grigor might keep climbing as he may have turned a corner, but I can't say I would bet money on him breaking into the top ten (he would have to win a Masters level event in all likelihood). It is more likely Tsonga, Richard and Daveeed remain in top ten.

I missed this one - sounds fun. I'm going to think on an order, but for now here are my candidates:

Definite (Barring Injury):
Nadal, Djokovic, Murray, Del Potro

Probable:
Federer, Berdych, Tsonga, Ferrer

Main Candidates for last two slots:
Wawrinka, Gasquet, Raonic, Janowicz, Nishikori, Dimitrov

Dark Horse Candidates:
Monfils, Gulbis, Soderling, Pospisil, Busta

RE: CONTEST: Who will be the ATP 2014 Year End top 10 players?

I think we might be in for one of the best races for world number 1 in years. Think about it: Nadal has a ton to gain at the AO and Wimbledon, but he's got a ton to defend in between. Just how much ground he can gain in those two majors, and how much ground can Novak cover in between will be huge. Then, most fascinating is the second half of the season, where Nadal can gain no points in the summer, but Djokovic can gain no points in the fall. It sounds quite balanced actually. It's going to be quite compelling.

True, there is a 900 point difference between them at the moment. The outcome of a GS final in points almost. It's going to be close.

RE: CONTEST: Who will be the ATP 2014 Year End top 10 players?

I initially thought we were talking about the end of 2013, thinking, 'well, that's not that hard.' I will revise.

1. Nadal
2. Djokovic
3. Murray
4. Del Potro
5. Federer
6. Ferrer
7. Berdych
8. Wawrinka
9. Tsonga
10. Janowicz

I picked JJ as my new guy. I keep trying to shoe-horn Tsonga in wherever I can. He's running out of time for a quality year, and I hope he has one in 2014. I should put Berdych over Ferrer, but couldn't bring myself to.

Perhaps Rafa wanted to play our game and was equally reluctant to vote for Raonic. Explains the finger incident. :snigger

Mox, we both penciled Jo in at 9 (Denis had him highest at 5). Came to like him mostly through things you shared with me, and I saw what you saw. I can't drop him either and really hope he has a good year in 14.

Jo to be the first to be displaced from the top 10 by Milos, just saying...:laydownlaughing
Waiting for your reaction then, my friend:s:puzzled

:) You would have been proud of brother Murat. He opened the door for such comments as well. I find as long as I don't see him on a court (or drive through the Squirrel Hill tunnels) it's much easier to refrain.

Nehmeth, Milos is getting there, sooner or later...;) Like Darby said in "Law Abiding Citizen" , you can't fight fate... I will help you get over it though...we will talk:snigger

Here is how it's going to be when it is all said and done:

1- Federer

Oops, sorry, this is not the "first to retire" list...

Here it goes:

1-Djokovic
2-Nadal
3-Delpo
4-Federer
5-Murray
6-Bird
7-Raonic
8-Dimitrov
9-Ferrer
10-Wawrinka

There is a lot of wishful thinking here, but it is MY list and I am sticking to it.:D
