Well, he was out about a whole year with injury, which he's never come back from, in terms of his tennis. On the upside, he spent his injury time at Tennis Channel and he is a very appealing commentator. I think his TV future looks bright.

I dont think Eubanks game is made for the clay, I agree with your comments that he is a great commentator and has great style in clothing.
Maybe that is where his future lies in TV

On the back of the T shirt saying
" It only takes everything".
Roland Garros wont be the same this year, without Rafa playing.,this is when it finally sinks in he has retired.

Of your list of those who have already lost in qualifying, I'd have cited Coric as a "how far they have fallen" story, though, also, sadly, plagued with injuries, I think, per @don_fabio. Eubanks is 29, and may find some wins yet on grass and hards, this year and next...get some more money and time on tour, but I suspect the lure of commentating will get him sooner than later. And yes, he is a natty dresser. Looks much better in specs and a suit than in tennis kit.

Sad about Coric, though was he any good on clay? I thought he was more a HC player, played with aggression, yep injuries have taken a toll on Coric sad to say

Well I also saw Rune in the gym, with a big smile on his face, he did have a viral illness, reason he had to withdraw from Hamburg, his game is suited to the clay, hopefully he can posts good wins at RG

Stef was also meant to play Hamburg and like a lot of players withdrew, but he didnt cite any injury or illness.

Personally, I think players with real ambitions to a Major title shouldn't play the week before the Major. Many are of the same opinion, so I'm not alone in this. Stef is right to take the week off, even if his results haven't been great this clay season. Zed is playing on home turf, and maybe looking for some mojo-generation, but I'm doubtful it's a good move. Djokovic decided to skip Rome, opting for Geneva instead, and, as you and the Don point out, it's cold and rainy there, so, in retrospect, probably not a wise move. He's clearly floundering for solutions, including ditching Murray ahead of grass. SMH.

The real head-scratcher is why Dangerous is playing this week. He's been playing on clay since February, and has a decent chance of going deep at this RG, and yet, he's decided to play more clay tennis in Hamburg. He should have gone to Paris and spent the week looking at videos with his coach of where his head goes wrong in matches. That would've been worth the Paris hotel bill and room service. IMO.

I also agree with you about players, playing a week before any major, risk of picking up a niggling injury for starters,
Novak needs clay matches, lets face it his clay season has been poor, personally I think there is more to the story of why Murray and Novaks partnership break up, Novak cannot expect Murray to come on board and wave his magic wand and the touranment titles start to appear?any lets see what happens with this new coaching arrangement, for now it is only at Geneva and RG.
Sasha another player that dosent need match play on clay, he lost in the QFs in Rome, being the defending champion, his ego took a big hit and decided to ask for a WC? I dont know what he expects to gain from Hamburg maybe some points, and a title on clay before RG, still he will be seeded at No 3 in RG, whatever points he picks up, I cant wait for the new excuse from him if he loses. He has become a Pathetic Whinger!
I think you and I said yesterday it is a Brainless decision from The Dangerous One, he really didnt need to play Hamburg,, it might come back to bite him big time at RG.

Wow I just converted that in Aussie dollars, there is a big difference in the ladies final compared to the mens final, my daughter who lives in London went 2 years ago to Wimbledon, her partner a lawyer paid for the tickets

yes it's a fairly typical difference. But I do believe there were years back in the 90s when it was more balanced. Steffi, Monica and Martina were compelling draws compared to the relatively dreary mens side
